Prince Edward Island :: 24/01/08:: 1845

鈥楽 ann aig deireadh 2005 a chaidh an c貌mhlan seo a chur air bhog 鈥榮 gu ruige seo tha iad air barrachd cudthrom a chur air a bhith a鈥 sgr矛obhadh 貌rain seach a bhith a dol air chuairt, 鈥榮 iad a鈥 taghadh d矛reach na cuirmean a tha iad fh猫in a鈥 faighinn inntinneach, mar a bhith a toirt taic dha The Flaming Lips, c貌mhlan air a bheil iad gu math measail! Son c貌mhlan a tha cho t脿lantach agus aig a bheil 貌rain cho tarraingeach bha e a鈥 cur iongnadh orm cluinntinn nach eil e a鈥 cur dragh orra mura nochd duine nuair a tha iad a鈥 cluich be貌, cha b e sin an t-adhbhar a tha iad ga dh猫anamh ach dhaibh fh猫in, ma tha an ce貌l aca a c貌rdadh ri cach, uill se buannachd a bharrachd a tha sin. Tha sinne den bheachd gum bi iarratas m貌r ann son am faicinn ann an 2008 agus tha iad fh猫in ag aitheanachadh ma dh鈥檉haoidte gu bheil an t-am ann an ath cheum a ghabhail. Mar sin tha iad dol a thoiseachadh ag obair air a鈥 chiad chl脿r aca, bidh iad a鈥 cur air d貌igh barrachd chuirmean agus tha iad cuideachd a鈥 s霉ileachadh ce脿rnaidhean eile dhen t-saoghal fhaicinn 鈥榮 iad an d貌chas 貌ran singilte a thoirt a mach anns na St脿itean Aonaichte agus Amerigea a Deas cuideachd!!

Tha EP ri fhaighinn an drasda leis an tiotal 鈥淟ies To Tell Tourists鈥 agus nuair a bhios iad ainmeil agus a cluich anns na tallaichean 鈥榮 aig na f猫isean as motha air an t-saoghal鈥.d矛reach cuimhnichibh far am faca sibh iad an toiseach...

Prince Edward Island were formed in late 2005 after realising that sharing each others' Chemikal Underground Records was not enough! Hailing from the nation's darkest fringes such as Fife and Ashington (exactly!), founder members and ex-workmates Darren Bruce, Faye Davies and Phil Pearce set about laying their dark, often very personal lyrics over the lightest melodies they could muster. They wrote about what they knew 鈥 of trawler-trash town love affairs, of being trapped in failing relationships, and of youth squandered.

They have recently been joined by new full-time members Nick Elleray on guitar, James Jackson on bass and Jon Hodges on drums who were recruited (stolen) from fellow bands on Myspace. Referencing their Scottish heroes, The Delgados, the Islanders are not afraid to wield a glockenspiel, melodica or even a stylophone in anger. Despite having a modicum of talent - they have been described as sounding like 鈥榓 band playing with boxing gloves on' - their short existence hasn't stopped them garnering widespread interest including winning the Xfm Unsigned competition, air-play on British, American and...um...Brazilian radio. Their debut EP, Lies To Tell Tourists, has just been released on BabyBoom Records, and there are further single releases in the pipeline in the USA and South America . Up until now, the Islanders have chosen writing songs over touring, accepting to play gigs only if the offer is interesting enough to them. The recent recruitment of Nick, James and Jon will see a change in emphasis, however, as Prince Edward Islanders prepare for a busy year of gigs throughout 2008.

The Islanders haven't read Anne of Green Gables and they have never been to Prince Edward Island.
