Shrewsbury Children's Bookfest celebrates its 10th anniversary 听1-4 May with a strong line-up that features some of the UK's most popular children's authors.

Louise Rennison is likely to be among the most popular names on offer. Author of the Georgia Nicholson series, Rennison's book Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging has recently been made into a movie, directed by Gurinder Chadha. You can see Rennison at Meole Brace School 6.30-7.30pm Friday 1 May.

Multi-award-winning author and former Children's Laureate Jacqueline Wilson will be appearing in the main auditorium of Shrewsbury's new Theatre Severn on Saturday 2 May. Jacqueline Wilson, author of My Secret Diary, Dustbin Baby and the Tracy Beaker series, appeared at the very first Bookfest in 1999 and is now its president.

On Saturday afternoon, before Jacqueline Wilson takes to the stage, Robert Muchamore (author of the Henderson's Boys series) will also be appearing at Theatre Severn. Tickets for Robert Muchamore are available from the Theatre Severn box office.

The Shrewsbury Bookfest is one of the most popular events of its kind in the country, for both children and authors alike. Like Jacqueline Wilson, many of the authors are making return visits to this year's festival.

Another former Children's Laureate Michael Morpurgo will be appearing at Shrewsbury High School on Friday 1 May. Ian Whybrow, author of over 100 children's books, will be at the Trinity Centre in Meole Brace on 2 May.

The 40th anniversary of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, one of the most loved children's books of all time, is marked at a special event at Shropshire Wildlife Trust.

The festival ends with a stage adaptation of The Railway Children by Image Musical Theatre at the Hive arts centre in Belmont, Shrewsbury.
