Local councils can make a big difference to our lives. In return for a hefty council tax they provide everything from recycling to sports and leisure facilities, help to create a vibrant town life and are charged with the ever difficult task of coming up with a strategy for affordable housing... and much more. Other organisations also affect young people's lives, whether it's schools, local youth groups, the police, or even the effect of national and international issues. Young people in the borough might not vote or pay council tax quite yet, but they're still an important part of the borough's life and represent the area's future. On Friday 12 May borough council representatives will be joined by other local figures to answer the audience's questions at the Young People's Question Time. Michelle Pound from the Grange Youth Centre and Barney Hall of the Speak Out democracy group will host the evening's event. There will also be live music with funk fusion trumpeter Danny Gough.
