Mission Impossible III does not stop, not once through the entire movie. You sit down and from second one the pace is already at breakneck speed with things happening all over the place. "You could see a real effort not to recycle the old Mission Impossible films, but to create a new one." | Josh Withey |
Not only are there some spectacular visual scenes but you are constantly second guessing yourself and have to ask the person sitting next to you 鈥渋s that a baddy or a goody?鈥 You should never assume that because it's Mission Impossible III it's just an action movie, because there is a real level of intelligence to the whole plot with some brilliantly-played roles including Lawrence Fishburne as the new director of IMF. I was disappointed with odd bits that just fell into the old clich茅s of action movies, and sometimes it seemed like the film was created to just show off Tom Cruise's on screen athleticism (particularly his ability to run very fast). But those moments weren鈥檛 enough to spoil the overall film. What I was pleased with most was that you could see a real effort not to recycle the old Mission Impossible films, but to create a new one. There were however some nice references to previous missions made in particular by Luther Strickell played by Ving Rhames. I highly recommend the movie as it is a real roller-coaster ride. However if you are totally opposed to action movies, no matter how complex the plot, stay away - the gun fighting, explosions and fights will just go over your head. |
