BlastYou are in: Shropshire > Blast > Primal State in profile ![]() Primal State play Room 9 Primal State in profileBy Annabel Jones Having survived over a decade's worth of changing line-ups, things now seem to be looking up Shropshire metal band Primal State. The band formed over 10 years ago when drummer Jay and guitarist Tom were at school and started jamming together. Over the years, there were numerous different members of the band, but they reached a "turning-point" in 2003, when bassist Bert and vocalist Rozi joined the band. The arrival of a second guitarist, Ben, completed the line-up in early 2006. Formerly known as Vital Signs, the five-piece signed to A Wolf At Your Door Records in July 2007 and are now in the process of recording an EP. ![]() Live in Room 9 Despite the fact that it was metal that brought them together, the group say that what makes them special is the huge range of influences that the individual members bring to the song-writing process – from Rozi's musical theatre background to Japanese Taiko drumming. Vocalist Rozi Adam says, "I think that's what keeps the interest for us really, just the fact that it can draw sounds from so many different places... it's never all one sound." last updated: 08/04/2008 at 15:57 SEE ALSOYou are in: Shropshire > Blast > Primal State in profile |
