Well
if you haven't guessed it as yet, RaaZ is a psychological thriller revolving
around a young couple whose marriage is about to hit the rocks.
Both Adtiya and
Sanjana Dhanraj decide to give their ailing relationship one last shot by re-visiting
the romantic surroundings of Ooty where they first fell in love.
But unknown to them, a supernatural force is at play which is only witnessed by
Sanjana thus discrediting her belief in her husband's presence. As a result tension
further ensues in their marriage.
Soon enough director
Bhatt puts us through a series of spine chilling sequences as Sanjana is terrorized
by all the mysterious happenings which seem to only happen during her husband's
absence.
It comes a point when she could not take it anymore and so seeks the help of a
para-psychologist played by Ashutosh Rana who confirms that there is a presence
who is trying to destroy her.
Throughout the
film, Sanjana who is very much a frightened character, is found alone in the loneliest
places to do the bravest thing of all to get to the bottom of the truth.
After putting his
audience through a grueling two and a half hours, director Bhatt makes us come
face to face with the spirit responsible for all the terrifying ghostly happenings.
And that, folks, makes up the climax of the film, which reveals why Sanjana's
marriage was on the verge of a breakup.
Bipasha Basu is
the one who manages to hold the audience's attention throughout the film. After
Ajnabee this beautiful actress is definitely heading for the top although
not much can be said for her real life boyfriend and co-star, Deno Morea. He might
have the manly physique that girls would drool over but it takes much more - and
I mean a lot more - than a body beautiful to be perfect as a true actor.
The high point
of the film is its music which is very well picturised against the European backdrop
which we are led to believe to be Ooty! Nontheless, Nadeem-Shravan's melodious
music further adds the lighter moments to an already tension filled story-line.
Overall RaaZ
is a film for fans who really want to be scared out of their wits, especially
during Hallowe'en nights but then that's what we are led to believe by director
Vikram Bhatt.
On the technical
front, Bhatt 's actual voice was used to dub for Dino Morea to add further authenticity
to the character.
Latest reports
from India suggest that this film is a hit which just goes to show that its not
the presence of mega stars that matters most to the audience. Its how well the
screenplay is written!
Go on judge for yourselves if you really want to know RaaZ's secret.
