The
film opens on some militants as they try to kidnap Anita, daughter
of the Indian Home Minister in New Zealand.
But
this proves futile due to inspector Amrish Kaul’s (Amrish Puri)
tight security.
Amrish
then returns to India to attend his daughter’s wedding.
During
the wedding celebrations, Amrish’s son, Ajay (Sunny Deol) meets
Neha (Tabu), a widow. He
falls in love and decides to marry her.
After
the initial reluctance, Ajay’s family agrees to this union.
But
just at this time, some terrorists kidnap Neha in exchange for Anita.
Left
with no choice, Ajay secretly leaves for New Zealand with the intentions
of kidnapping Anita. He
succeeds in his plan.
The
story picks up speed when he finds that the entire Indian government
is searching for him as he is branded the most dangerous kidnapper.
So
Ajay must now prove his innocence and come out unscathed. And that
folks, in a nutshell forms the crux of Jaal - The Trap.
The
initial part of the film concentrates too much on the romantic side
whilst the latter is an all out action thriller appealing to die
hard Sunny Deol fans.
Credit
goes to director Guddu Dhanoa for shooting the action sequences
with sheer brilliance.
So
do watch out for that elusive boat chase, the scene involving the
crashing of the cars, helicopter chase and the climax at the very
end. It’s definitely well worth your ticket price!
Considering
that Jaal - The Trap is a political film, the director has
avoided the patriotism. So this is greatly missed throughout the
film.
Veteran
actress, Tabu impresses but as usual, the film belongs to Sunny
Deol.
On
the whole, Guddu Dhanoa has proved that he can make a successful
action thriller. And due to this fact, it’s well worth a see at
a cinema near you.
