Hungama
Aftab, Rimi and Akshaye in Hungama

Hungama is a laugh riot all the way.

With Priyadarshan and actor / comedian Paresh Rawal at the helm, this film provides a good outing for children this summer holidays.

Radheshyam Tiwari (Paresh Rawal) is a businessman staying with his wife Anjali (Shoma Anand) in the city of Mumbai.

Anjali (Rimi Sen), a young girl, has just come to Mumbai in search of a job but all her efforts proves futile.

In order to make ends meet, she decides to share accomodation with Nandu (Aftab) whom she had met during her job hunt.

Nandu is an aspiring singer who has ran away from home to make it big in the music world.

The story gains momentum when Anjali applies for a job with Radheshyam's company but is rejected.

She then meets Jeetu (Akshaye Khanna) who is working in a computer store. He wants to start his own business. So he is on the look out for finance.

He mistakes Anjali for Tiwari's daughter. Thinking that she will lead him to his rich 'father', he does all he can to secure her a job at his computer store.

More comic confusion ensues when Anil (Sanjay Narvekar) pretends to be the son of Tiwari to win the love of a rich businessman's daughter. He even gets engaged to her.

Meanwhile, Jeetu falls in love with Anjali.

How the entire meyham and confusion get solved after a series of comic mishaps, forms not only the climax of the film but will have you rolling off of your seats with laughter.

Director Priyadashan comes out trumps. He has successfully managed to handle all the comic situations in a superb way.

This is further enhanced by the comic timing of Paresh Rawal and his humorous dialogue. He is one person who will certainly bring tears of laughter to your eyes.

Some sequences in the film have been brilliantly executed by the director. one example includes the scene between Nandu, Jeetu and Anjali in the cinema.

Musical score of Hungama is melodious but then this is expected from a Priyadarshan film.

All his earlier releases (Hera Pheri, Doli Saja Ke Rakhna and Saat Rang Ke Sapne) ended up being Bollywood chart busters.

In the performance category, it is Paresh Rawal who walks away with the trophy. He simply excels in the comical sequences and will have you in stitches.

The rest of cast supports well. These include Akshaye Khanna, Aftab, Rajpal Yadav and Rimi Sen.

Overall, director Priyadarshan comes out a winner with Hungama (meaning confusion).

With the film released during the summer holidays, it is bound to attract the families with children into cinemas.

My prediction is that it will do well at the box office. Now judge for yourself!
