Recent
example of this new trend includes Darna Mana Hai and now
we see Tere Naam, a movie which appears different from normal
Bollywood masala.
The
story focuses on Radhe (Salman Khan), an ex-college student who
passes time by hanging around with friends.
He
may have a weird hairstyle, smoke continuously and get involved
in street fights but most important of all, Radhe is a believer
of truth. For
this reason, people respect him.
Into
his life enters Nirjara (Bhoomika Chawla), a traditional Indian
girl.
Her
fianc茅e wants her to be a graduate and so she attends the same college
where Radhe hangs out.
Seeing
this girl daily, Radhe gradually falls for her simplicity. But
Nirjara, does not reciprocate.
When
Radhe saves Nirjara麓s sister from a serious incident, she is convinced
that this man is genuine in what he believes. And that is being
in love with her.
But
just when she gets ready to accept Radhe, he gets attacked by some
guys seeking revenge.
This
leaves him unconscious with a major brain injury. He looses his
memory as a result of this attack.
The
next few reels which follows next forms the crux of Tere Naam(meaning
your name).
The
film starts off on a pleasant note with light hearted entertainment
and an engrossing storyline.
But
after the intermission, the story becomes more serious and rather
disturbing at times.
Some
sequences in the film take you by surprise. That's
when your heart really goes out to Radhe.
The
song sequences are the main drawback in a film so intense, that
they interfere with the narration on screen.
Salman
Khan gives his best. A versatile actor, Salman excels in the romantic,
emotional and action scenes. Newcomer
Bhoomika Chawla impresses.
Himesh
Reshammiya's score fares well with Oodhni and Tumse Milna
being the best of the lot.
On
the whole director Satish Kaushik tried to be different this time
round but can the audience easily digest a story so different from
the normal Bollywood equation?
Some
might find the second half difficult to chew and that might just
affect the box office takings in the long run.
