Raj
Malhotra (Abhishek Bachchan) lives with his mother (Suhasani Mulay)
in New York. They
agree on everything except on Raj's marriage.
Raj
is on the look out for that perfect partner who will get his pulse
rate racing. The
last thing he wants is an arranged marriage.
Life
goes on until Raj attends his cousin's wedding in India.
It
is here that he comes across Namrata (Aishwarya Rai). Their
initial meeting turns out to be very unpleasant.
But
to Raj's dismay, he soon learns that she is his uncle's secretary.
To make matters worse, she is assigned the job of finding a prospective
bride for him.
Thinking
this would be a great opportunity to get her own back, Namrata begins
her assignment.
But
finding the right partner for this young man proves to be an impossible
feat for her.
And
this is where the twist comes. Raj
declares his love for Namrata but she cannot reciprocate for one
special reason.
What
happens next forms the climax of this romantic drama as I am
not saying anything further!
Director
Rohan Sippy has spared no expense with this Kuch Naa Kaho (meaning
don't say a word)
This
can be seen from the production values in all departments whether
it is the sets, clothes or locations or the shooting of the songs.
The whole film appears glossy and colourful.
I have
one advice for cinemagoers who have a habit of coming into the auditorium
just after the initial credits have rolled. . . .
Mr
Sippy has found a novel way of displaying the credits on the silver
screen and is definitely worth watching. So do get in quick before
the film starts.
The
film flows smoothly from the start but as it enters into the second
half, we experience some dramatic sequences which should have been
edited in order to preserve the smooth flow.
The
surprise package in Kuch Naa Kaho comes in the form of Arbaaz
Khan.
But
this sequence should have been explained in more detail to give
more impact to the climax. For
those of you, who have already seen the film will know what I mean.
Abhishek
Bachchan gives a good performance whilst Aishwarya Rai not only
looks her best but manages to get under the skin of the character
she had to portray.
Two
songs which catches your attention include the title track and Acche
lagte ho.
On
the whole, Kuch Naa Kaho is a good family entertainer.
It
will do well at the UK box office due to the presence of Aishwarya
Rai and Abhishek Bachchan.
Curiosity
will have the audience flocking into auditoriums.
