Sandra
Williams (Dimple Kapadia) lives in an isolated mansion situated amidst
a thick misty forest. She has two children, Sarah and David.
The
children are young, independent and mischievous. But sadly, they
are restricted by the confines of the four walls of the mansion.

David
is a mama's boy whereas Sarah is headstrong in character. She stands
up firmly in what she believes is right.
Sandra's
husband, Major Frank Williams (Amitabh Bachchan) is at war and there
has been no news for some time.
Engulfed
by loneliness, the children crave for their father's return.
Virendra
(Dharmendra), an engineer, is a very close friend and associate
of Frank Williams.
Unable
to cope on her own, Mrs Williams employs three servants.
There
is Mrs. Pinto (Moushumi Chatterjee), the nanny who looks after the
children. Then there is Edgar, the gardener and Maria the helper
around the mansion.
The
servants are briefed about the strict rules of the house and are
made to obey certain unusual orders carefully.
This
includes moving around the house silently and making sure that curtains
are drawn at all times.

Mrs
Williams soon finds that there is something very suspicious about
Mrs Pinto. So she begins to keep an eye on her.
Feeling
insecure and thinking that something strange is happening to her
family, she decides to consult Father D'Souza.
But
on her way through the thick woods, she runs into her husband Frank,
who seems very dazed and disorientated.
The
family is thrilled on Frank's return. So during the family reunion,
Sarah shares a secret which leaves Frank aghast.
It
is then that he leaves the mansion. Helped by his friend Virendra,
Frank gets to the bottom of the mystery surrounding the Williams
family.
This
film sees the comeback of the dynamic duo of Amitabh Bachchan and
Dharmendra after 23 years.
Bollywood
film buffs will also be glad to see the presence of stars from the
70's films.
These
include Dimple Kapadia, Moushmi Chatterjee and Prem Chopra.
This
movie is directed by debutante Ravi Shankar Sharma. He has assisted
Yash Chopra when he made films including, Mashaal, Faasle,
Vijay and Dard Ka Rishta.
Hum
Kaun Hai is a supernatural thriller consisting of no songs.
It is shot in Hindi and Bengali. It is heavily inspired by the Hollywood
movie, The Others.
