Sandra Williams (Dimple Kapadia) lives in an isolated mansion situated amidst a thick misty forest. She has two children, Sarah and David.

The children are young, independent and mischievous. But sadly, they are restricted by the confines of the four walls of the mansion.

Dharmendra
Dharmendra is Virendra , a close friend of Frank

David is a mama's boy whereas Sarah is headstrong in character. She stands up firmly in what she believes is right.

Sandra's husband, Major Frank Williams (Amitabh Bachchan) is at war and there has been no news for some time.

Engulfed by loneliness, the children crave for their father's return.

Virendra (Dharmendra), an engineer, is a very close friend and associate of Frank Williams.

Unable to cope on her own, Mrs Williams employs three servants.

There is Mrs. Pinto (Moushumi Chatterjee), the nanny who looks after the children. Then there is Edgar, the gardener and Maria the helper around the mansion.

The servants are briefed about the strict rules of the house and are made to obey certain unusual orders carefully.

This includes moving around the house silently and making sure that curtains are drawn at all times.

The happy family
The happy family in this Bollywood horror

Mrs Williams soon finds that there is something very suspicious about Mrs Pinto. So she begins to keep an eye on her.

Feeling insecure and thinking that something strange is happening to her family, she decides to consult Father D'Souza.

But on her way through the thick woods, she runs into her husband Frank, who seems very dazed and disorientated.

The family is thrilled on Frank's return. So during the family reunion, Sarah shares a secret which leaves Frank aghast.

It is then that he leaves the mansion. Helped by his friend Virendra, Frank gets to the bottom of the mystery surrounding the Williams family.

This film sees the comeback of the dynamic duo of Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra after 23 years.

Bollywood film buffs will also be glad to see the presence of stars from the 70's films.

These include Dimple Kapadia, Moushmi Chatterjee and Prem Chopra.

This movie is directed by debutante Ravi Shankar Sharma. He has assisted Yash Chopra when he made films including, Mashaal, Faasle, Vijay and Dard Ka Rishta.

Hum Kaun Hai is a supernatural thriller consisting of no songs. It is shot in Hindi and Bengali. It is heavily inspired by the Hollywood movie, The Others.
