Veer-Zaara
is a romantic tale of an Indian man, Veer Pratap Singh (Shahrukh Khan)
and a Pakistani woman, Zaara Hayaat Khan (Preity Zinta).

Squadron
Leader, Veer Pratap Singh, is a rescue pilot with the Indian Air
Force. A caring person, Veer will go out of his way to help someone
in real need.
Whilst
on duty, he comes across Zaara, a daughter of an influential Pakistani
politician. A simple girl by nature, she is happy to marry the man
of her parent's choice.
She
has come to India to full fill her Hindu mother's last wish and
that is to immerse her ashes into the holy river of the Ganges.
But
on her way to the Ganges, she has an accident which leaves her stranded
in a foreign land. It is at this point in time that she meets Veer.
Their
initial friendship starts off on a sour note but as time goes by
they become good friends and eventually, fall in love.

Veer
also takes this opportunity to show Zaara the place where he grew
up (Punjab). From there, he accompanies her back to the border where
Veer meets Zaara's fianc茅 (Manoj Bajpai).
Soon,
a sudden turn of events sees the arrest of Veer by the Pakistani
police. He surprises everyone by choosing to remain silent.
Twenty-two
years later, Saamiya Siddiqui, a Pakistani lawyer comes to his rescue.
She meets an ageing Veer Pratap Singh for the first time.
He
has languished in a Pakistan jail cell for 22 years and has spoken
to no one. No one knows why.
Saamiya
takes it upon herself to find the truth about this man. She sees
to it that justice is served. And so begins her journey. . .
Bollywood
legends, Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini make a special appearance
as Veer's grandparents.

Filmed
in northern India, Veer-Zaara sees the comeback of director
Yash Chopra' after 8 years since his last release, Dil To Pagal
Hai.
Yash
Chopra has launched his own music, Yash Raj Music for this Veer-Zaara.
The musical score is provided by the late Madan Mohan.
Recreated
by his son Sanjeev Kohli, it features singers like Lata Mangeshkar,
Udit Narayan, Sonu Nigam, Gurdas Mann, Roop Kumar Rathod, Mohammed
Hussain and Ahmed Hussain.
The
film sees a Diwali release by Yash Raj Films in the UK cinemas on
12th November 2004.
