Hulchul
focuses on two families. The first family is headed by the hot tempered
Angaarchand (Amrish Puri). They reside in a small town called Matkapur.

Not
so far is the village of Anpura where Lakshmidevi (Lakshmi) lives.
Her family consists of three sons and one granddaughter by the name
of Anjali.
Both
Angaarchand and Lakshmidevi are well respected governors in their
own villages.
Angaarchand
has four sons (Jackie Shroff, Paresh Rawal, Arbaaz Khan and Akshaye
Khanna ) who have always had problems with women. So they vow to
a life of celibacy.
Meanwhile
due to a past grudge, Lakshmidevi is always coming up with revengeful
plans against Angaarchand family.
So
trouble ensues when Angaarchand's youngest son, Jai, and Lakshmidevi's
granddaughter, Anjali
(Kareena Kapoor), end up at the same college by coincidence.

Unknown
to Jai, Anjali has been sent by her brother and mother. She is supposed
to seduce this young lad. If she succeeds in her devious scheme,
the Angaarchand vow will be broken.
But
smart kid Jai, goes one step further. His best friend, Lucky (Arshad
Warsi) is roped into this mayhem to spice up the hilarious proceedings.
Much
to their surprise, Jai and Anjali begin to develop feelings for
each other. Their relationship becomes so serious that they decide
on getting married.
But
this situation adds further tensions for the families who have been
enemies for years.
So
what follows is a series of deceitful mishaps as the young couple
try to convince their families.

Hulchul
sees the return of director Priyadarshan who successfully made
comedy hits like Hera Pheri and Hungama.
Compared
to his other films, Hulchul has been filmed on a large scale
with the presence of a galaxy of stars.
The
film is being released in the UK cinemas by Venus Films on 26th
November 2004.
