Jim
Corbett National Park in Uttaranchal forms the backdrop for this thriller.
National
Geographic sends ace tiger expert Krish Thapar (John Abraham) &
his wife Riya (Esha Deol) to find out the reason behind the mysterious,
recent deaths of tigers in the jungle.

There
is also Dev (Vivek Oberoi) & Ishika (Lara Dutta) with their
group of friends who set out for a weekend adventure trip in the
park.
Destiny
diverts this group from going to the farmhouse they had originally
planned. They are led towards one of India's biggest jungles for
an unexpected ride.
Soon
the two groups meet together, but the same night, the fear that
seems manifest in the jungle comes to life. They realise that this
jungle is a very dangerous environment.

Strange
things begin to happen in the park and members of the group start
disappearing.
It
seems that there is some supernatural force behind the events that
is partly beast and partly ghost.
The
gang comes across Kali Pratap Singh (Ajay Devgan) who takes on the
challenge of helping them escape out of the jungle which has never
been so alive...
Together
they must fight the unseen force in order to survive.
Kaal
marks the transition of Dharma Productions (Johar's production house)
from their regular family-orientated films to a thriller.

Shahrukh
Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment is the co-producing banner.
Director
Soham Shah who has earlier assisted Karan Johar and Ram Gopal Varma,
makes his debut with Kaal.
Shah Rukh Khan makes a special appearance in a song sequence in
the movie. The film is said to release on 29th April 2005 in the
UK cinemas by Yash Raj Films.
