An
elderly couple (Amitabh Bachchan and Sharmila Tagore) are forced to
search for their faith in human values and society in this film.
This
happens when their only son (John Abraham) bears the repercussions
of trying to intervene in a crime that he has witnessed.

Directed
by Mahesh Manjrekar of the highly acclaimed hard hitting films like
Vaatav and Astitva, he now tries his hand with emotion,
realism and drama in the form of Viruddh.
Mahesh's new venture features a string of Bollywood's biggest actors
acting all
together for the first time.
Fresh
from the success of Black and Waqt, the film stars
Amitabh Bachchan, the legendary Sharmila Tagore, Sanjay Dutt (of
Parineeta fame) and John Abraham who recently appeared in Dhoom
and Kaal.
Viruddh
also introduces Anusha, as John's romantic interest.

Shot
in the UK and India, Viruddh takes a stark, sensitive and
emotional look at a father-son relationship (Amitabh Bachchan -
John
Abraham).
The
film consists of a memorable religious song by Jagjit Singh titled,
Hey Jag Trata which will appeal to all ages of cinema goers.
The
film is scheduled to release by UTV distributors on Friday 22nd
July 2005.
