An elderly couple (Amitabh Bachchan and Sharmila Tagore) are forced to search for their faith in human values and society in this film.

This happens when their only son (John Abraham) bears the repercussions of trying to intervene in a crime that he has witnessed.

A lovable neighbourhood character (Sanjay
Dutt) assists them in their endeavours.

Realistic and moving, Viruddh is a tale that expresses vulnerability in the face of a corrupt political system.

Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar of the highly acclaimed hard hitting films like Vaatav and Astitva, he now tries his hand with emotion, realism and drama in the form of Viruddh.

Mahesh's new venture features a string of Bollywood's biggest actors acting all
together for the first time.

Fresh from the success of Black and Waqt, the film stars Amitabh Bachchan, the legendary Sharmila Tagore, Sanjay Dutt (of Parineeta fame) and John Abraham who recently appeared in Dhoom and Kaal.

Viruddh also introduces Anusha, as John's romantic interest.

Shot in the UK and India, Viruddh takes a stark, sensitive and emotional look at a father-son relationship (Amitabh Bachchan - John
Abraham).

The film consists of a memorable religious song by Jagjit Singh titled, Hey Jag Trata which will appeal to all ages of cinema goers.

The film is scheduled to release by UTV distributors on Friday 22nd July 2005.
