The
film opens on Tanya (who is also known as Natasha during the latter
part of the film). She is a popular college singer whom boys dream
of dating.
We
also have Karan (Shahid Kapoor), who works in a coffee shop to pay
for his fees. He becomes friendly with Tanya after an incident involving
Tanya's brother.
As
predicted, poor Karan falls head over heels in love with this damsel.
The
twist comes when Tanya witnesses the murder of a scientist while
on her way to celebrate Karan's birthday.
So,
to save herself from the murderers, she immediately leaves Mumbai
to settle in Dubai, under the name of Natasha.
Meanwhile,
three years have passed and Karan is still searching for his first
love - Tanya. Fed up of seeing him suffer, his boss, Murgan (Johnny
Lever), decides to help him.
Murgan
soon finds out that Tanya is now residing in Dubai. So he hires
Rocky (Akshay Kumar) to track her down.
But
trouble ensues when Rocky manages to fall in love with Tanya! So
to keep her to himself, he makes up a false story about Tanya -
this is so hilarious you will end up laughing your socks off!
Meanwhile,
Tanya has changed her name to Natasha. She has two close friends
including Sanju and Tommy with an interior motives.
To
add to this confusion, we also have a plot involving the murderers.
They are after the secret formula which the scientist invented before
he was killed. By accident, the formula gets hidden in a stuffed
parrot belonging to Karan.
So,
does Tanya (alias Natasha) escape from the clutches of the goons?
Does Karan find his love in the end? See Deewane Huye Paagal
to find out!
The film has some great comic sequences which will have you in stitches.
These include the scene in which Akshay Kumar gets friendly with
Jayantilal the dog.
Also,
the scenes between Paresh Rawal with Akshay and Shahid are sure
to bring the house down.
The whole film belongs to Akshay Kumar because of his perfect comic
timing. In fact, his performance in this film is far better than
in Garam Masala.
Suniel
Shetty plays his character with perfection, adding more laughs during
the narration.
As
for Shahid Kapoor, he provides able support to Akshay Kumar. One
more scene to watch out for is a song and dance sequence between
these two men when they try to romance the same girl on stage -
you will be be glued to the screen.
The
choreography is simply out of this world! Akshay matches the dance
steps to those of Shahid with perfection.
Another
sequence which appeared novel was the fight sequence involving the
bikes on the Dubai sand dunes. This idea has never been seen before
in Bollywood films.
On
the whole, Deewane Huye Paagal is great film. They say laughter
is the best medicine. Go see the film - it will really cheer you
up!
