This latest Bollywood comedy is based in a small village called Laholi which is governed by Thakurani (Sudha Chandran) and her brother Baje (Rajpal Yadav).

These two characters spend their time bullying the villagers into giving them a share of their earnings.

Lilaram (Paresh Rawal) is one of the villagers who sells lottery tickets called Malamaal Weekly on a regular basis.

Soon, one of the tickets he had sold wins the one million jackpot prize. The winning ticket belongs to the village drunkard, Anthony Fernandes. But the twist comes when Anthony dies after informing the lottery company about his winning numbers.

When Lilaram gets wind of this news, he tries to get his hand on the winning ticket. But as time goes by, Balwant, the milkman and the village romantic hero, Kanhaiya (Riteish Deshmukh) also want a share of the jackpot.

In no time the entire village learns about this incident and decide that they want a share of the prize money.

But will they be able to keep 'mum' about what has happened to Anthony when the lottery man comes round to present the winnings? Watch Malamaal Weekly to find out. . .

Director Priyadarshan who once made serious dramas, now concentrates on comedies which seem to be his forte these days.

His last release Garam Masala did very well at the UK box office and now he has all the reasons to laugh with his latest release, Malamaal Weekly.

The film has already taken around 拢70,600 in its opening weekend by screening in only 14 screens.

The film has a simple plot with loads of laughs which makes it a good family entertainer.

The whole movie belongs to the master of comedy, Paresh Rawal. He has the punch lines all the way bringing the house down.

The only way to enjoy this film is to take it lightly as it's purely fictional. For example, why Paresh Rawal has dirty teeth is not explained but we presume it's to make him look funny on screen!

Other actors like Om Puri, Riteish Deshmukh Sudha Chandran and Rajpal Yadav simply add their bit of humour to the proceedings making the film more entertaining.

Overall, Malamaal Weekly is only film around worth watching as there are no current new releases for the cinemagoer to choose from.
