This film explores the entwined lives of nine characters in Mumbai city.

Shikha (Shilpa), a talented but bored housewife, craves affection from husband, Ranjeet (Kay Kay).

But Ranjeet is having a secret affair with his secretary, Neha (Kangana) by using his employee, Rahul's (Sharman) flat for his sexual desires.

Ambitious and career minded, Rahul is secretly in love with Neha and is unaware about her affair.

Still single at 30, Shikha's sister and Neha's room mate, Shruti, meets prospective suitor, Debu (Irrfan), but is unimpressed by his brazen attitude.

In order to pursue his dreams, Amol (Dharmendra) left his girlfriend (Nafisa) behind, 40 years ago for fame and fortune.

He now returns to her when both are counting their last days. Meanwhile, a neglected Shikha gets attracted to Akash (Shiney), a struggling theatre actor on the rebound from a divorce.

How these stories intermingle and affect the individual's lives, form the climax of this social drama.

After all the hype and controversy during her Big Brother appearance, the big question for Shilpa Shetty was whether she could do herself justice on the silver screen.

Happily for her, Metro is director Basu's most accomplished work, giving a Bollywood product matching Hollywood standards of filmmaking.

Basu's inspiration of incorporating a rock band and narrating the story in parts through songs is a Bollywood first.

Shilpa Shetty is the life and soul of the film as she gives her career's best performance of a neglected housewife craving for love.

Her on screen husband, Kay Kay, charmingly plays the adulterous Ranjeet but wins your heart in the end despite his faults.

Sharman Joshi, brilliantly portrays Rahul's helplessness through his eyes and long silences whilst Kangana as the mentally unstable and suicidal Neha, will tug your heart strings.

Lighter moments come from Irrfan who entertains as the blatant Debu.

Metro is intellectual cinema at its best and is sure to win everyone's hearts. Its recent glitzy Leicester Square premiere was truly and rightly
deserved!
