One
such story focuses on Surjit Singh who goes to America leaving behind
his wife and two year old daughter.
But
to get American citizenship he has to marry for a second time. This
act breaks his relationship with his family back home in Punjab.

Now,
a rich landlord in California, Surjit also has a son, Varyam who
is a doctor.
Surjit's
life long wish is for Varyam to marry his best friend's daughter,
Preet, back in Punjab but till present day, he has not disclosed
his past to his son.
A sudden
twist in the tale occurs when Surjit finds that he only has a few
days to live.So
he reveals the truth about his first marriage to Varyam.
Tormented
by guilt, his dying wish is for Varyam to bring his first family
together so that his last rituals can be performed by his first
wife.
Upon
the death of his father, Varyam takes his ashes back to his dad's
village. Being a doctor, he sets up a village clinic and becomes
close to the locals without revealing his real identity.
When
he meets Preet (the girl chosen by his deceased father), Varyam
falls for her simplicity and innocence and in no time they fall
in love.
But
will Varyam's step mother fulfil his father's last rites? And will
she accept him as part of her family and bring Preet to her house
as her daughter-in-law?
Releasing
in the UK cinemas by distributor, Think Big, Mitti Wajaan Maardi
destined to be this year's Punjabi blockbuster at the UK box office
has the answers.
