Paying
tribute to the 1970's Hindi film industry, junior artist, Makhija
(Khan) is shooting for the song sequence along with his sidekick Pappu
Master (Shreyas).
With
dreams of becoming a mega Bollywood star he is in love with actress
Shanti (Deepika), and through some remarkable coincidences, he captures
her attention.
But
just when life was going his way, Makhija is shocked to find Shanti
in love with her producer (Arjun) whose own personal greed leads
to her murder and death of Makhija, who are then reborn.
Thirty
years on, Makhija now Om Kapoor (Khan) experiences flashes of his
past life.
He
decides to solve the murder mystery with the help of Shanti now
known as Sandy with a shocking twist in the climax scene in this
all out Bollywood entertainer.
Director
Farah Khan takes a tongue and cheek nostalgic look at the 70's Bollywood
and fast forwards to present day also delving into reincarnation.
A typical
Bollywood masala flick, Om Shanti Om has got it all - comedy aplenty,
emotions in abundance, larger than life sets, spectacular dance
sequences and melodious musical score.
Khan
is in his element once again in the comedy and emotional scenes
proving yet again that he is the King of Bollywood!
Photogenic,
super model-turned actress Deepika Padukone flawlessly has the same
screen presence as King Khan proving she has all the makings of
a Bollywood superstar.
Arjun
Rampal as the cunning producer whose past catches up with him in
the shocking climax scene is simply brilliant whilst Shreyas Talpade
gives a confident portrayal as Om's best buddy throughout.
On
the whole, Om Shanti Om is a wholesome entertainer. You will come
out smiling! Already in the UK top ten and climbing high in the
coming weeks, this one is worth seeing!
