Dr Ghungroo (Paresh Rawal) is the uncle of handsome and eligible bachelor Rajiv (Akshay Kumar).

He is on the lookout for a suitable bride who comes from a decent and cultured family for his nephew.

Unable to find a perfect match, Rajiv is only too happy to remain single until he comes across Sanjana (Katrina Kaif) and falls head over heels in love with her.

But there is a problem! Rajiv is unaware that his newly found girlfriend is the sister of the city's most dangerous gangster, Uday (Nana Patekar).

And there is also Uday's partner, Majnu (Anil Kapoor) who has a strong interest in portrait painting especially "live painting" - by holding his subjects at gun point!

When the gangsters hear about Sajana's alliance with the decent and clean living Rajiv, they are only too happy to give their blessings much to the dismay of Dr Ghungroo.

So, to convince his uncle that Uday and Majnu are good-hearted, Rajiv and Sanjana set out to reform the gangsters into law abiding citizens.

They do this by introducing Ishika (Mallika), a sexy damsel to the gangsters. So while they romance Ishika, their wheeling and dealings come to a standstill.

Add to this mayhem and chaos, the biggest gangster of them all - RDX (Feroz Khan) - and you end up with a series of comic moments which will have you laughing all the way to the climax.

Director Anees Bazmee's previous releases Hera Pheri and No Entry were huge money spinners at the UK box office due to their high laughter quotient.

This time too, Bazmee uses the same magic formula with his new Christmas release, Welcome.

Inspired by the Hollywood flick, Mickey Blue Eyes, Bazmee packs Welcome with slapstick humour and rib-tickling hilarious comedy throughout till the end.

Each character in the storyline is very well defined by the director which boosts the narrative.

Strangely enough, Akshay Kumar's character turns out to be the most sensible and serious of the lot, especially considering he is surrounded by laughable characters.

Anil Kapoor as painter Majnu is the real star, evoking laughter with his slapstick humour whilst Nana Patekar is equally funny as the city's gangster who dreams of becoming a Bollywood actor.

While Katrina Kaif and Mallika Sherawat provide the glamour, it is Mallaika Arora who capture your attention in one of the sizzling song and dance sequences.

Welcome can be described as a wholesome entertainer full of humorous moments with a well defined star cast and frivolously funny.

Having taken over 拢300,000 at the UK box office, it just goes to show that this comedy is popular with the audience at the moment!
