Lauren Price will face Jessica McCaskill for the WBA and Ring Magazine welterweight titles on 11 May in Cardiff.

Olympic champion Price, 29, contests her first world championship in her seventh pro bout at the Utilita Arena.

The Welsh fighter faces an experienced operator in 39-year-old McCaskill, who is a former undisputed champion at welterweight.

Price will be favourite, but McCaskill has just three defeats in 16 fights.

McCaskill was beaten by Chantelle Cameron in 2022 in her bid to become a two-weight undisputed champion and has also suffered defeat to Katie Taylor in 2017 at lightweight.

The American is considered a trailblazer in the pro ranks and has given up her WBC title to face rising star Price.

McCaskill was scheduled to fight the WBC's mandatory challenger Ivana Habazin in Croatia on the same date, but has opted to face Price instead.

For Price, it is the first time she has fought at home since turning pro in 2022.

Price entered the paid ranks following a decorated amateur career which culminated in her winning a gold medal at Tokyo Olympics.

While the likes of Joe Cordina have won world titles for Wales in recent years, Price would become the first Welshwoman to achieve the feat.

She would become the 14th Welsh native and the first of the British Olympic squad from Tokyo to win a world title.
