Shrewsbury Town skipper Matt Richards is one of five players to have been shown the door at Greenhous Meadow after not having his contract renewed.

Richards, who signed a two-year deal after leaving Walsall in 2011, joins strikers Marvin Morgan and Ryan Doble, winger Mark Wright and midfielder Rob Purdie on Graham Turner's hit list.

But six players have been offered new deals by Town manager Turner.

And Joe Jacobson has triggered a clause in his contract to earn another year.

The six to be offered new deals are striker Tom Bradshaw, midfielders Jon Taylor, 23, and Aaron Wildig, 20, defender Connor Goldson, 20, and young hopeful Ryan Woods, along with Jermaine Grandison, 22, who is to see a specialist on 2 May about his troublesome hip injury.

Aberystwyth-born Bradshaw, 20, is keen to stay after a couple of frustrating seasons since being picked up by Shrewsbury Town as a teenager.

His family backed his hopes of making the grade by moving lock, stock and barrel from Mid-Wales to support him - and he netted six times in his first full season. But his chances over the last two years have proved limited.

"I want to stay," he told Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Radio Shropshire. "But I hope to get a lot more starting time.

"I've got to talk to the gaffer and the chairman and my agent.

"I've done everything I can in the reserves. Everything in training is geared towards a game and, if you're not playing, it can get very frustrating."

Such has been the turnover of staff at the Meadow following promotion from League Two a year ago that Bradshaw, closely followed by promising centre-half Goldson, is now Town's longest-serving player.

"It's not often that two 20-year-olds are the longest-serving players at the club," he added.

Shrewsbury, who finished 16th in their first season back in the third tier of English football for the first time since 1997, ended the campaign with five players on loan at the Meadow.

West Bromwich Albion defenders James Hurst and Cameron Gayle, Charlton Athletic defender Yado Mambo, Watford midfielder Stephen McGinn and Birmingham City striker Akwasi Asante have all ended their loan deals, while injured Barnsley defender Rob Edwards is already back at Oakwell.
