Stockport County boss Dave Challinor has led the club to 13 wins from 19 games in League Two this season

Stockport County failing to break League Two's record winning run gives the chance to start another winning streak, says boss Dave Challinor.

The Hatters lost to Newport County on Saturday, bringing to an end a remarkable 12-game winning streak.

Despite the defeat, they remain top of the League Two table and host local rivals Salford City on Tuesday.

"It's an opportunity to get three points and we'll do everything to recover," he told 麻豆官网首页入口 Radio Manchester.

"But it's another opportunity for us to start another winning run.

"All it is is another three points and we didn't get them, which is the most disappointing thing about it."

Challinor is unfazed by the end of their run, which came after Newport won 2-1 at Rodney Parade thanks to Bryn Morris' strike and Shane McLoughlin's left-footed drive.

Stockport still hold a five-point gap on second-placed Wrexham and are six points clear of Crewe, who sit fourth in the table.

"There's no pressure on a record. Records are great but ultimately mean nothing. If we had [gone further] and won 15 league wins on the bounce and then not got promoted, then the record is irrelevant because who's bothered about it?

"No-one is going to look back, whether it's Luton or Blackpool who had the record, if you were to ask their fans if they were happy that they had the League Two record for consecutive wins and how many that is, they wouldn't have a clue."
