Portsmouth's new signing Lee Evans says he would like to stay at the League One leaders beyond the end of the season.

The 29-year-old ex-Wales international joined Pompey on Friday until the end of the campaign after leaving Ipswich.

The former Wolves midfielder is recovering from knee surgery but is training with the first team.

"It's a club where I'd love to stay for longer, that's down to me to put in good performances," he told 麻豆官网首页入口 Radio Solent.

"I hope we can come to some arrangement at the end of the season."

Returning from injury setback

Evans, who won four caps for Wales between 2017 and 2019, has not played since the end of September.

But he said he is hoping he can still make an impact in the majority of the 10 games that remain this campaign.

"The knee's good," he added.

"I'm glad to have finally resolved the issue with surgery, I'm ahead of schedule.

"I'm not too far away to be honest, I'm training with the first team and looking forward to getting back playing."

Evans said he would probably be fit enough to play some minutes against Burton next Tuesday, but thinks he is more likely to be ready for the match at Peterborough on 16 March.

Portsmouth, who are six points clear at the top of the table, are next in action against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on Saturday.
