Head coach Darren Moore says Port Vale being at the top of League Two "has a nice ring to it" but knows they must improve if they want to stay there.

Vale's 1-0 win at MK Dons last weekend was their fifth in the last seven league games and took them top of the table after 11 matches.

Their lead over second-placed Doncaster is one point, with a two-point cushion to Notts County in third - one of four teams on 19 points in a congested top six.

"We can definitely get better on the ball, our decision-making and the cleanliness of our play," Moore told 麻豆官网首页入口 Radio Stoke.

"To align on and off the ball is a real thin line and we're still working towards that.

"As we do that we need to not let go of the good stuff we're doing off the ball -that's two clean sheets in two games which shows there's a solidity to the team."

Vale's seven-game unbeaten run followed back-to-back defeats against Barrow and Doncaster in late August.

It has put Moore' side firmly back on track for a potential immediate return to League One after last season's relegation.

But Moore knows to maintain that aim, the squad cannot let standards drop for Saturday's visit of Fleetwood Town.

"Certainly, on the ball, we could do better and making the right decisions with the chances we're creating - the final pass and converting those chances," he said.

"There's always things to work on.

"It's nice, after 11 games, that we speak about Vale being top of the league. It's got a real nice ring to it.

"We know here, in October, there's so much to do but it illustrates the tremendous work we've done in the summer.

"Even though I'm pleased to be talking about us being top of the league, I'm not satisfied - the players know that and there's so much work ahead of us.

"We need to get better."
