Walsall boss Mat Sadler says signing former Aston Villa and Queens Park Rangers winger Albert Adomah would be a "very interesting" deal which could help the squad on and off the pitch.

The 36-year-old is currently on trial with the League Two Saddlers having left Loftus Road at the end of last term after four and a half seasons with the Rs.

"The most important thing for me is to see the eagerness of him," Sadler told �鶹������ҳ��� Radio WM after the club's pre-season friendly against Villa on Wednesday.

"His ability and pedigree is undoubted."

Adomah spent three seasons with Villa in the Championship, helping the club return to the Premier League in 2019 and the Villa fans sung his name in appreciation when he appeared as a second-half substitute at Bescot.

Sadler, who guided Walsall to 11th place - five points off the play-offs - last season, says they will "keep talking" to Adomah over a potential transfer.

"It has to work for him and us," he said.

"Clearly, it's not the type of signing I've made before but it's a very interesting one."

The Walsall head coach is also aware of the benefits Adomah's experience could bring to the squad, with the Ghana international having playing more than 200 times in the Championship during spells with Bristol City and Middlesbrough.

"He's an unbelievable person - you can see why he's had the career he's had and could that be something we use to rub off on other players?" Sadler said.

"I want him to have the desire to help out the likes of Connor Barratt, who I think has a fantastic future in the game, and I think Albert, at the moment, is showing himself in a good light with things like that.

"He's had a wonderful career. The quality he possesses from wide areas is probably unmatched in the Championship, let alone League Two.

"We'll just have to see what it looks like in terms of moving forward."
