In January 2007 麻豆官网首页入口 Radio Stoke launched the Happy Appeal. It was a twelve month campaign in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support helping them raise money to build a new cancer unit at Leighton Hospital.

It's a sad fact that more than one in three people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives.听 Many people have had their lives touched and know the devastation it can cause, either through personal experience or through that of a close relative or friend.听

Smile

With Mac The Dog as the mascot and an aim to keep you smiling, many fund-raising events were held.

Throughout the twelve months we held a free event each week with a smile theme...

We kept you warm with a Leek and Potato soup give-away, did a balloon release to celebrate the lives of your loved ones, and we even hosted a huge football tournament which included teams of former Stoke City and Port Vale stars.

We also held a Northern Soul Night back in October. Over 300 of you came along and danced the night away to your favourite Northern Soul and Motown anthems. It was a huge event that was enjoyed by all.

Your help and support was fantastic. You turned up in your hundreds and your generosity was huge.

You even organised your own events to help raise money. You did all sorts from organising coffee mornings to holding a country and western night.

A good year

The Happy Appeal was a huge success and we couldn't have done it without you. We would like to say a huge thank you for all of your help and support throughout 2007.
