Jonathan (Radio Stoke's Digital Dr)
'Technology of 1969'... just a follow up to some thoughts from the Breakfast show Digital Doctor slot.
1st July 1969 saw the investiture of Prince Charless at Caernavon Castle, North Wales. My aunt attended and gave me a badge from the event. I was too young to recall it but apparently this was one of the first colour-televised events by the 麻豆官网首页入口.
ARPAnet which was an early version of the internet was invented in 1969 as was Barcode technology. 1969 saw the start of the integrated circuit revolution which has led over the last 40 years to a vast reduction in the size of electronic devices. We now have a balance of the centralised computing which existed in the 60's with a revolution in personal devices.

I remember hanging out at the ABC bowling alley in Picaddilly with my friends. I remember listening to "Dancing in the Street" by Martha Reeves, "Wade in the Water" by Ramsay Lewis and - of course - "In the Summertime" by Mungo Jerry.
I remember the weather being really good that Summer ( could be wrong though !). I remember going to The Torch in Tunstall and The Wheel in Manchester with the rest of the "mods" . I remember having A LOT of fun and I have very good memories of 1969.
I remember it being a carefree summer. I would be going back to school in September for a few months only and then I'd be starting to work in March . I started to work at Wooliscroft & Son in Broadstreet (oh... just remembered that the bowling alley was in Broadstreet and not Picadilly).
I moved away from Stoke in 1978 and came to Canada. I still visit on a regular basis and always love to "come home".

I remember the summer of 69 as though it was yesterday because it was so special. I was in my final year at Bangor ( we have all recently met up for our 40th reunion). It was the time when Charles was invested at Caernarvon Castle. I spent the summer working at Peter Taylors Supermarket, Biddulph, before starting at Knypersley County Primary School.
It was the time of The Place which I and friends went weekly.
Also in December I met the young man whom I married in 1971 and we are still together so it was a very special year.
Sadly i don't have any photos because we didn't have a camera - just lots of happy memories.

I left school and joined the Michelin Tyre Co as an apprentice. It was also the last time I went 10 pin bowling. It was at the Cinebowl in Broad Street, Hanley.
Regards,Andy (in the swamps of Stone where it's sunny!!)
