The Marvelous

The Marvelous

One of the first bands into the Suffolk Sessions studios were The Marvelous, bringing in with them their love of The Clash, Funkadelic, The Maytals and Tom Waits, among many, many others.

A fusion of disparate genres, brought together seamlessly in the Suffolk Session studios, these four Ipswich gents weld their love of reggae, soul, funk and hip hop to a definite punk rock background to create The Marvelous.

Signed to local record label Sativa, 2007 sees the release of their debut album "Substance and Rhythms", which hopes to build on success the band have had supporting Hard-Fi and the Bluetones.

They changed their name in 2006 from 'King Billy and The Marvelous' after confusion over the protestant King Billy, while they were in fact named after an Aboriginal man Jimmy Clements who was famous for standing outside Old Parliament House in Canberra, protesting for his aboriginal rights, alongside his old mate 'The Marvelous'.听 The confusion now cleared up, 2007 should be a fantastic year for the boys.
