The experience of hearing music around his home when growing up inspired and enthused a young Mark Ronson.
"My first musical memory as a child is that my dad really loved music and he would listen to records and he was really into soul and RnB," the British鈥揂merican musician, DJ, songwriter and record producer said.
It was when Mark was at New York University that he became a popular DJ in the hip hop scene although, as a child he had picked up many musical instruments, "My dad got me a small drum kit and that was my first instrument."
He's best known for his talent of introducing a note of old-school funk to a song and some of these collaborations were with artists such as Adele, Amy Winehouse, Miley Cyrus and Bruno Mars.
Mark Ronson:
My first musical memory as a child was, uh, my dad really loved music and he would listen to records, and he was really into soul and R&B. And sometimes, my parents would, uh, have their friends over, fairly late at night, and, uh, I would wake up in the middle of the night and they'd be playing music loud, and I would go next to the speaker, and I would just get lost in the music.
There could be, maybe, 40, 50 people in the room, and I would just stand next to the speaker and listen to the music with my eyes closed, and pretend that I was the drummer in the music, so, I'd just be, like, next to the speaker like this. And then, uh鈥. So, that's鈥. Then my dad got me a small drum kit when I was, uh, young and that was my first instrument.
