Dom So we are Jess and Dom, and you'll probably know us from Love Island.
JessWe met on the show, we got married. We now have baby, he's five months old. And it's been a crazy whirlwind.
DomI'm super excited about being a Tiny Happy People ambassador, because for us it was just so helpful. Going on the website and seeing all the different videos and stuff, and stuff that sometimes you don't even think of, and you just literally scroll past it, click on it, and it's eye opening.
JessEven for working parents, the website is super handy because it's just these short little video clips which give you so much information in such a short space of time. You can be on your lunch break, or when you get home or when you're in bed before you fall asleep.
DomA minute long video.
JessYeh which can give you endless enjoyment with your child. I think one of the things you really worry about before you have a baby is like oh my god, how will I know what to do? What if I'm not doing it right? I think that's what Tiny Happy People has helped me with. It's just reminding me of how doing that every day stuff actually does help.
DomJust doing the simplest thing is so effective.
JessThere's stuff that like you're doing that you didn't realise, actually, do you know what I'm doing OK, this is the right thing to do. Like your playing peek-a-boos, making up songs and just chatting away as I'm walking around the supermarket. Talking to him about who needs what shopping.
DadYou have the apple, Daddy will have the pear.
JessYou soon realise that, actually, that's really beneficial. And it's nice to see ways you can do that that fit into your daily life. I have full blown conversations with him. He's my new best buddy.
DomI think the bonding side of things for me come in the middle of the night. Obviously. Jess was breastfeeding, so it was like when I was doing the changes. I'd make it like a sort of fun experience and sing songs. And that would just be me and him.
JessSinging with him is definitely where we found our feet with him.
DomNot that we can sing, but even if you can't sing and you sound like a crying cat.
JessBabies like it, so that's alright. He loves nothing more than our attention, that will always be his favourite toy. You're the most fun they'll have, so why not give them that?
DomYou remind me of that quite a lot. Like when I'm feeding him and stuff, I might just close my eyes and sleep and Jess goes no, talk to him, stare at him.
JessHe soon won't need feeding by us, or will want to hold his own bottle. It's then you'll look back and wish that you had those chats or told him those stories. Like I'm never going to skip to the end of a book, I can't wait.
