Tomislav Lu膷i膰 was born in Split and graduated in marine sciences before studying singing at the Opera Studio in the National Theatre, Split with Maria Boga-Verdes, and then at the Music Academy in Zagreb with Vlatka Or拧ani膰.
In 2006, two years after his first singing classes, he won first prize at the National Singing Contest in Dubrovnik. He obtained a CEE Musiktheater scholarship, then qualified for the Opera studio CNIPAL in Marseille for 2006/2007. He attended master classes with Olivera Miljakovi膰, Yvonne Minton, Tom Krause, Louis Langr茅e, Yevgeny Nesterenko and David Syrus.
Also in 2006, Tomislav made his stage debut at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, performing Colas (Bastien et Bastienne) and Der Sprecher (Die Zauberfl枚te) and sang Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro) at the National Opera of Bucharest. Concert appearances included Mozart's Requiem in Zagreb and Handel's Messiah in Granada and Valladolid.
In July 2008 he sang in Ildebrando Pizzetti's Fedra in Montpellier, to be released on CD. Since 2007 he has been a company member of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and in 2009/2010 will join Staatsoper Dresden. Engagements in 2009 include Masetto (Don Giovanni) for Op茅ra de Lyon and Stravinsky's Le Rossignol in Aix-en Provence in 2010.
In his spare time, Tomislav enjoys speargun diving and playing snooker.
