Philip Bloom is a film maker and cinematographer who is at the forefront of DSLR Film Making; using Digital SLR cameras to create a look only previously associated with 35mm movie cameras.

His work has attracted the attention of George Lucas and his status in the film making world is in no small part to his use of social media technology to talk about his work and share ideas.

With much of the event - centred on latest developments in technology and culture - still "under construction", the first day was all about registration and the building anticipation.

The team also visited Austin public radio station KUT, who are heavily involved in recording bands for the musical part of SXSW.
