 What people are saying

Should there be one court for the world?

Yes, it's a step foward.

The proposed International Criminal Court is a step forward in raising humanity to a higher level of existence. It is time to recognize that all human beings share a common need to live their lives without the fear of being tortured, raped, or murdered. The rule of law must replace rule by violence, and the ICC offers the best hope for manifesting this.

It's hard to imagine a more important development.

It is hard to imagine a more important development in international law than the creation of a permanent International Criminal Court. Nothing that I can envision could do more to deter and punish crimes against humanity, genocide, and aggression. An unfortunate legacy of the 40-year cold war is that it delayed the establishment of the Court from the 1940's until now.
