From entering a Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Writers talent search to creating the UK's first transgender sitcom commissioned for Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Two.

is the UK's first transgender sitcom, commissioned as a full series on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Two for broadcast beginning in September 2015.

Created and written by Elliott Kerrigan and Simon Carlyle, the Manchester-based comedy was discovered through the  â€“ a Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Writers talent search in partnership with Trans Comedy, which offered aspiring writers up to £5,000 for the best script that promoted a positive portrayal of transgender characters.

In 2012,  held - an innovative event for transgender people of different backgrounds and media professionals, to come together and look at ways to change the representation and portrayal of trans people in the media. The idea for the Trans Comedy Award was born. It went on to develop and be led by known trans comedians and the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Head of Creative Resources. 

In November 2012 Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Writers in partnership with Trans Comedy launched the  at the Creative Diversity Network Awards - the Trans Comedy Award was looking for original television comedy shows featuring transgender characters and/or themes.   was one of the winning writers and received further development by the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú in association with Jon Plowman and Sophie Clarke-Jervoise (Tiger Aspect), towards a staged reading held by Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Writers.  As a result of this 'Boy Meets Girl' was filmed as a studio pilot for the â€™s sitcom showcase and was subsequently commissioned for a full Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Two series.

'' Series 1 was broadcast on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Two beginning on Thursday 3rd September 2015 at 9.30pm.

 was broadcast on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Two beginning on Wednesday 6th July 2016. 

Boy Meets Girl won the Royal Television Society North West award 2016 for Best Comedy Programme. Elliott Kerrigan was shortlisted for Best Script Writer.
