The Fast and Funnyers...

We’ve two new videos from the Fast and Funny team - and Nathan Byrne’s . And to accompany them, Susan Riddell brings us up-to-date with all things F&F…

Welcome to the second instalment of the Fast and Funny blog; it’s been a while. I feel it would be more apt to make a short video detailing the goings on with a ‘Last week on Fast and Funny’ recap … but I won’t, mainly because it would be pretty damn boring and you’d switch off. I know this because we’ve been studying why people switch off. Unless, that is, we made the scheme into a dramatic Hunger Games type scenario and all 12 participants fought till the death to get their videos up on the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú’s website.

So what have we been up to, us Fast and Funnyers? Well, since last time we had an excellent masterclass with Jon Hunter - a script editor who has worked on an array of comedy shows. He offered a lot of practical advice - first and foremost BE FUNNY. Which sounds ridiculous but a lot of the time you just think you’re being funny when really you’re just being a smart arse. He put it more eloquently. Jon has a whole bunch of useful advice on the which is worth a read if you are a budding comedy writer like me.

Next came a Vine challenge in which I proceeded to exorcise years of pent up rage with the help of my Fast and Funny buddy Rachel Jackson. We called it ‘The Lassie Who Listened to the Patriarchy’. If you are female and have ever been told to smile, then this will be hashtag, relatable. You can check it out here as we actually won the challenge to have it showcased on this very website. We had a laugh making it and fair play to the workie in the van who helped us out. The guy was a natural. I’d like to say that was a deliberate move on our behalf, that we were being all Shane Meadows, casting unknowns for artistic purposes but really it was because our ‘actor friend’ who was supposed to play the part let us down at the last minute.

Rachel and I worked so well together we’ve decided to do our own little side project as well as the Fast and Funny assignments. We’ve started making a web series called ‘I’m With Nicola’ about a lassie who is obsessed with Nicola Sturgeon. Our ultimate goal is to get a retweet from the First Minister herself. So if you’re reading Nicky, sling us a retweet when the time comes.

Anyway, that's all I have time to write at the moment but we are due masterclasses in filming and editing in the coming weeks, so if you're a luddite like me you might want to tune in and I'll tell you all about it. Peace out!

You can watch and Nathan Byrne’s now, or check out along with two earlier F&F videos.

And the Fast and Funny team (as pictured above) are from left to right: Nathan Byrne, Annabel Logan, Graham Hughes, John Speirs, Sandy Bouttell, Rachel Jackson, Ally Houston, Stephen Buchanan, Susan Riddell, Patrick Kondracki, Derek Smith and Gavin Grant.
