"We are delighted to announce our ten brilliantly talented writers, for London Voices 2024. It has been such a pleasure working with them over the last six months, to find the idea they’re most passionate about and turn it into a series document that will best prepare them to tackle a spec script.

There’s a real spectrum of tones and subjects across the board with their ideas, which is reflective of how varied the group is in their perspectives and voices. They’ve also had a series of workshops throughout the period to help focus and refine their process and best prepare them for the next steps, in their no-doubt fruitful careers to come! I really look forward to seeing more work from each of them, as they continue to develop and thrive!"

Maram Ahmed

Maram Ahmed is an award-winning Writer, Director and Producer based in London.

In 2023, Maram’s project was one of only five TV projects selected for the inaugural Hot House: Development Lab – a lab for scripted long form TV and feature film projects about climate change – which was run in partnership with Climate Spring, Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Writers and the BFI Network.

Maram’s TV pilot script was shortlisted (top 10) for the BAFTA Rocliffe: TV Drama competition.

Maram currently has several original TV, film, theatre and audio projects in development and is working on a number of commissions.

Georgia Bruce

Georgia Bruce is a writer and actor from London. Their first play Time, Like the Sea, was shortlisted for the Bruntwood Prize, the George Devine Award, the Papatango Prize for Playwriting, the Theatre503 Playwriting Award and the Women's Prize for Playwriting. They are currently developing work with the Almeida Theatre as part of the Genesis New Writers Program 2023-2025. Georgia is represented by Katie Battcock and Camilla Young at Curtis Brown.

Maddie Dodd

Maddie Dodd is a screenwriter and director based in East London.

Her series, GIRLS’ HOLIDAY, is in development with See Saw Films. It’s a sharply comic drama about power in friendship groups, set on a holiday which turns murderous.

Her other screenplays include a queer twisted romance, a political thriller exploring deception within relationships, and a wild coming of age story set in 2090- climate catastrophe Britain.

She’s actively developing other projects for TV and film.

She’s written a genre-blended memoir, Now You’re Dead It’s Much Easier To Talk, about her mum’s death, which is represented by .

Maddie has also worked on critically acclaimed documentaries, including the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú’s Belsen: Our Story, and the feature documentary about Stephen Hawking’s relationships with his family, Hawking: Can You Hear Me?, for Sky Documentaries. She’s directed two feature length documentaries about the criminal justice system.

Montel Douglas

Montel Douglas is a British-Jamaican playwright and Actor from South London. His debut play, ONE WAY OUT won the UNTAPPED Award 2023 showcased at New Diorama Theatre and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He holds a BA in Acting from St’ Marys. He has been a member of the Royal Court Intro Group, Soho writers lab, Talawa’s intro group. Montel has a passion for character-driven drama, comedy-drama, and interested in writing personal stories around infrastructural issues, that will make you think, laugh and cry.

Outside of writing, Montel is a facilitator at Almeida Theatre, Company, & BrixtonHouse. Montel is also one of the founding members of production company 'NO-TABLE,' Theatre Peckham's first resident company.

Elham Ehsas

Elham is a BAFTA nominated and Oscar-shortlisted writer/director working in Film and Television.

He loves stories that explore what it means to be human, how the tiniest of moments can change us forever through connection, and where hope can take us if we are allowed to dream.

His debut short OUR KIND OF LOVE was BAFTA long-listed in 2019 and has garnered over 3.6 million views on YouTube to date. He is currently developing the short into feature form with the BFI. His newest short film YELLOW was BAFTA nominated in 2024 and shortlisted for the Academy Awards in the same year. He is also working with Synchronicity Films to adapt Hamed Amiri's acclaimed book THE BOY WITH TWO HEARTS for television.

Toby Fell-Holden

Toby Fell-Holden is a writer-director and a Screen Star of Tomorrow. He holds an MFA in Film from Columbia University, and BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Oxford University.

Drawing from his Anglo-Indian heritage, Toby creates character-driven thrillers and psychological dramas that delve into issues of power, race, and sexuality. His work often explores subcultures and underworlds through heightened narratives, aiming to provoke conversation while entertaining audiences.

His short film, BALCONY, won the Crystal Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, won the Iris Prize, and was nominated for a BIFA. Toby was the lead director for the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú’s THE BREAK II and is currently writing several TV and feature film scripts, including WHITE LIES, developed through the BFI with Milly Alcock attached (HOUSE OF THE DRAGON, SUPER GIRL). His feature script, GARVITA, placed in the top 3% of the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Open Call 2023 and is in development with Helen Gladders, Helene Sifre, and Sam Bank at Braintrust.

Titas Halder

Titas Halder is a writer and director working across Theatre, Film and Music. His first two plays RUN THE BEAST DOWNand ESCAPE THE SCAFFOLD saw him nominated for Best Writer at the Stage Debut Awards. His next play THE BASEMENT was a finalist for the Verity Bargate Award. He is Associate Artistic Director of the Donmar Warehouse. As a writer he trained on the Royal Court Young Writers Programme. He is developing an original project for TV with MGC, and is currently writing his first feature film for Storyteller Productions.

Titas is represented by at 42. His plays are published by Oberon Books and Methuen Drama. He performs and records as musical artist Titas and the Fox.

Tania Nwachukwu

Tania Nwachukwu is a Nigerian-British actor, writer and educator. She graduated from Mountview Academy with an MA in Performance (Acting), and now teaches African Theatre Practices and Black Acting Methods in drama schools across the UK. Her writing credits include THE KOLA NUT DOES NOT SPEAK ENGLISH (Bush Theatre), which she also starred in. She is currently developing an original adult animation about the self-domestication of foxes in London called CATS and FOXES, whilst also working on a play exploring ‘aunties’, women in their midlife, and the angst of ageing. 

Tania’s work explores identity, culture, intergenerational relationships, and the links between our past, present and future.  

Tania has a background in poetry and is a Barbican Young Poets alumni. She is also the co-founder of BLACK IN THE DAY, a submission based photo archive documenting the lives and experiences of Black people in the UK.

Tommy Ross-Williams

Tommy Ross-Williams is a writer, director and intimacy coordinator. Their work strives to embody a more just world. Taking on big issues - be that climate crisis, racial justice or trans rights - through a deeply personal, character-driven and ultimately empowering lens, Tommy’s writing conjures universal stories that take you on unexpected journeys to the world as it could be.

In 2023 Tommy was selected for Climate Spring’s Hot House Development Incubator with BFI and Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Writers for TV that explores the climate crisis where they developed the series SWEAT with Joana Nastari. Their latest short film, RUBINSTEIN’S, is being produced in Autumn 2024 with a cast including Allan Corduner and Anton Lesser.

Tommy is also an award-winning playwright with their plays performed at theatres including The Bush, Park Theatre & Paines Plough. Their most recent play, MY UNCLE IS NOT PABLO ESCOBAR premiered at Brixton House in 2023 and is published by Bloomsbury. It was shortlisted for Best Production at the OFFIES 2024 and won the One-Off Special Award.

In 2023, Tommy was accepted into BAFTA Connect and they are an active member of Trans On Screen. Their writing has received grants from S-H-E-D, Aziz Foundation and ACE.

Eleanor Tindall

Eleanor is a writer from London. Her debut play BEFORE I WAS A BEAR (Bunker Theatre, Soho Theatre)gained her a nomination for Best Writer at The Stage Debut Awards in 2020. She has been a member of Soho Theatre Writers Lab and has previously taken part in writing workshops run by the Almeida & HighTide. Her new play TENDER secured her a place on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Voices 2024, was a finalist for the Ambassador Theatre Group's playwriting prize in association with Platform Presents and will premiere at the Bush Theatre in November 2024, published by Nick Hern Books & co-produced by Broccoli Arts & Jessie Anand Productions.
