Drunken football in drag

Posted from:Tabatinga
We鈥檝e a new team just arrived and Rob Sullivan is our new leader. How nice to have some new blood. Just like Matt at the beginning and Steve thereafter, Rob is now directing. I鈥檝e only met him once before at a good friend鈥檚 wedding but we got on instantly. Also we have the amazing Leti who has worked non-stop for months sorting out the Brazilian phase of the trip. With her also is my mate Laura who it鈥檚 great to see out here and who鈥檚 been hard at work on recces too.

Bruce prepares for his dress fitting

We start filming again tomorrow and it鈥檚 carnival time. I can鈥檛 wait. I鈥檓 getting dressed up in drag and playing football apparently, so that should be a slight giggle. I鈥檒l have to get drunk to join in properly, but hey ho, some jobs are just bloody tough. I鈥檝e got some friends who are at carnival in Rio and they contacted me to see if I would be around to party. I had to admit that I could hardly be further away in terms of distance and type of venue but wished them well all the same.

Enjoying the carnival in Benjamin Constant
A Benjamin Constant cross-dresser

This is frontier, border and smuggling land and round these parts things are a bit different to your fancy Rio ways. The little Brazilian village of Benjamin Constant on the Peruvian, Colombian border is known for its cross-dressing parades and groups of middle age businessmen dressed in nappies or as Dalmatians. It might not be as bright and extravagant as Rio, and there certainly won鈥檛 be quite the same amount of participants, but if I have anything to do with it, it certainly will be just as audacious.

Yeah, I know, I know ... bloody tough (lol).
This country is really big with different cultures and influences, then, I don't have the slightest idea of how this carnival was there in Benjamin Constant, the media always focuses on the Rio and Bahia at this time.
Hope you had good moments on this audacious party =D.
