Today the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Trust published their interim report on the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú's Strategy Review. Here are selected extracts about what the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú does online:
"...a future where the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú will have two distinct online functions - iPlayer will have an important role providing on-demand radio and TV-like content while Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Online should also remain a publisher of distinctive, original public service material for the web. We agree the first step should be to simplify the existing content on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Online and to strengthen editorial control of its future development."
The 25% cuts in Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú online's budget looks certain to happen:
"We conclude now, in line with the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Executive's strategy proposals, that there is a bigger challenge for Online - to cut back on the current scale and scope of what is published and put the focus on those areas where the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú has a clear and distinctive role to play."
But the report says more detail on how and where is needed.
The Trust stresses the importance of access to content for users:
"Get Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú services free at the point of use, in ways and on devices that suit them"
Simultaneously the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú published its annual report.

Here's an eg. If the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú licensed (for money) say four or more competitive site to handle Music and allowed them to charge and or take ads (the model is magazine publishing) this which both enlarge the distinctive role and and earn a bob or two...
The Trust made a mistake with Education Material it should have used a similar model
