The cast of Coming of Age

Dana's away, but boy is she going to be gutted that she's missed this news...

We can exclusively reveal that Coming of Age has just been re-commissioned for a third series. You'll be able to see the brand new series first when it transmits on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Three in early 2011. If you can't wait until then (and I know I can't!), here's a clip of outtakes from the last series. BALAMORY!

Thats great news but surely not unexpected? With a very talented cast, a superb writer and a very large loyal and entheusiastic fanbase the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú would have been crazy not to recommision the show. Its one of the finest shows on TV and am sure many people are eagerly awaiting the new series. WELL DONE Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú!

Just bought series 1 on dvd and i watched the pilot episode on the special features disc and i would like to say thank god they used anabel barnston, ceri philips and hannah job to play chloe, ollie and jas because if they used the other three that were in pilot episode i would NEVER watch it... they choose the best people in the end. honestly they were crap lol..
besides that, cant wait for the third series... and i would like to ask, when is series 2 coming out on dvd? i absolutley love this programme.

It stands to reason that only 3 people have commented that this is 'good news'. Peejkerton has got it spot on. The fact that this show was ever made shows the sheer idiocy of commissioners at the bbc. This, alongside 'scallywagga' is one of the worst shows ever made. Everyone associated with this show should be ashamed of themselves. Can't believe my licence fee is being spent on this absolute waste of time. Misguided Middle class 30 year old with delusions of mediocrity trying to be outrageous and write 'teenage comedy'. Give it up. Now.

Disappointing that the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú could ever commission something so crude and unfunny. If you've ever seen Extras, this show is worse than "When The Whistle Blows", a show within a show that is supposed to represent the ultimate chase for ratings and mainstream audiences. This is worse than that.

I am genuinely shocked there are people out there that actually find this catastrophic mess funny. The 'writer' of this show should do the decent thing and give it up. Get another job. I don't care what job it is - pick up dog muck in your local park if you want - just stop churning out these awful scripts. I wasn't even writing stuff this bad when I first started doing scriptwriting classes at university. It's an insult to other budding writers who actually have an ounce of talent and don't get their work commissioned.

This show is very immature but that doesn't mean it has to be as cringeworthy as Jim Davidson doing the best man speech at an Asian wedding. 'The Inbetweeners' proved a show could be both immature and funny. The characters were believable, the writing was good and the acting, for the most part, was pretty good. 'Coming of Age' has atrocious writing, implausible characters and acting so bad it makes the Hollyoaks cast look like they could be in 'The Wire'.

To put my comments into perspective, you must realise that this is the first time I've ever felt the need to voice my opinion on a television programme's blog. It just saddens me to know that the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú (who have produced near-genius material such as Alan Partridge, The Day Today, The Thick Of It, The Trip, The Office, Red Dwarf, Fawlty Towers) have spent some of our hard-earned licence fee on this abomination. We, the paying viewers, should have the right to request that this disgrace is removed from our screens. Get another pilot script - one that's not written by someone who's that devoid of genuine wit and clever jokes, he thinks that interspersing pathetic penis jokes with frequent swearing is edgy comedy.

The latest excerpt of the show I saw was the gang talking about giving their mate heroin to cheer him up - a cheap premise, but it gets worse. One of the girls said she didn't have heroin - she then paused and said that she was a heroine. Brilliant. Her boyfriend (who looks like he's literally just been born) then said that he was a heron and then acted like said animal. Hats off to the writer. I mean, using the words 'heroin', 'heroine' and 'heron' to pull off a joke of such class is a stroke of genius. The really upsetting thing in all this is that the writer, Tim Dawson, gets paid out of our licence fees to write these 'strokes of genius'.

Please do the decent thing, Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú.

I have to agree with other posters in that this series has to be the worst scripted and acted series on TV. How on earth it made it to its first series baffles me. I guess the actors are only doing it for the money because this series is definitely not worthy of pride. I suppose the one redeeming feature is that its on really late at night so not many will watch it.

So what can I base my comments on? Well I have worked on Film and TV and have seen the amount of work that goes in to make some of our best known comedians funny (when in actual fact they aren't). But after all the post work this still isn't funny just irritating. If we lose the jokes about drugs, womens issues and mens parts then we are left with a purile series which would go down well on CBeebies were the audience is used to baby talk.
