Coming of Age clues about series 3

Post categories: ,Ìý,Ìý,Ìý

Dana Stevens | 11:10 UK time, Friday, 23 July 2010

The cast of Coming of Age We know you love Coming of Age because you told us loud and clear that you wanted a third series (thank you to all the lovely people who took the time to tell us on .) The creator and writer Tim Dawson is currently very busy working on the new series and he's so excited about it he wanted to let you know how it's going. I know lots of you are keen for clues about what DK and the gang will be up to so read on....

Tim Dawson writes:

I think I should begin by thanking everyone who watched Series 2 for their wonderfully warm reaction to the show. I'm delighted it was so popular. Apparently Joe Tracini can't leave his house now without receiving shouts of 'Balamory' from excitable teenagers, excitable adults and disturbed toddlers.

It's still a few months until pre-production begins - that's when the producer, director, actors and production team come on board to start making the series proper. But I've been writing for about three months now, and I'm deep into the new series. So what can I tell you? Despite the rumours on Facebook, all the gang will be coming back. (Hooray!) But there's more...because this year they're going to be joined by duh duh duuuuh...

...a new character!

Now I can't tell you her name, mainly because I keep changing it (any suggestions please put them below) but she's seventeen, cute and has a big secret. Plus she hasn't been cast yet, so any aspiring actors out there get stretching those thespian muscles boys! Oops, I let out her secret - or did I? No I wouldn't do that - or would I? I should stop this joke now... or should I?

Matt and Chloe from Coming of Age As well as the arrival of X, there's a lot in store for our heroes at Wooton College. Jas tries to move on from Ollie, DK acquires a stalker and for the first time Matt and Chloe face a problem which threatens their entire future together - the giraffe of fire!! There's jealousy, heartbreak and treachery as well as our usual raucous mix of comedy sex, outrageous visuals, special guest stars, raps, knob jokes and witty one liners all building to a thrilling climax.

And what will that thrilling climax be? Obviously I can't say. But what I can say is this will be the best series of Coming of Age yet. I can't wait to make it. And I can't wait for you to see it.

Balamory!

Tim Dawson is the creator and writer of Coming of Age.

The third series of Coming of Age will be on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Three in 2011.

Mongrels: Vince and Nelson answer your questions

Post categories: ,Ìý,Ìý

Dana Stevens | 17:50 UK time, Monday, 19 July 2010

Last week we gave you the chance to put your questions to two of our favourite foxes from Mongrels; the polite, Ben Elton-loving Nelson and the violent, foul-mouthed Vince. After a great response on the and here on the blog we selected some of the best ones for Nelson and Vince to answer. As you'd expect Vince's responses were particularly filthy and rude so if you think you may be offended...please don't read his responses!

From Chris Childs: Vince, Who keeps following you around with that machine that goes *bleep* all the time? Can hardly hear a word you're saying!
VINCE: Ah it's all some bull*bleep* Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú thing. So now I've got some *bleep* in a tie telling me I'm not allowed to swear on TV. The 'Taste & Decency' *bleep*.

From Deejay Maximus: Nelson and Vince, What's better boggle, sex or sex whilst boggling?
NELSON: Oh crumbs, now you're asking. OK, so...on balance I would probably have to say...Boggle. For one, you can do it with anyone from ages 'eight to adult'. For two, it's quite portable so you can play it, for example, on the train. And for three, as long as you don't run out of the little jotter pads, you can pretty much keep playing it forever!
VINCE: *bleep*ing.

mongrelsfb-13.jpg

From Lara Ryan: Nelson, What is your idea of the perfect day?
NELSON: Ah, good question Lara. I'll say coffee and croissant in bed with the Sunday Telegraph, quick spot of antiquing, afternoon tea at Browns, sneaky crossword, cheeky nap, dinner with friends somewhere disgustingly expensive, finished off with an evening of Ben Elton-penned musical theatre!

From Stu Mc: Vince, Were you the hardest of the litter?
VINCE: Course I was. And do you know why Stu? Because when me and all my brothers and sisters were still in my mother's *bleep*...
NELSON: Womb, Vince. Technically you were in her womb.
VINCE: ...I beat the living *bleep* out of them every single day from the moment we were just tiny little spunks until the day we were born. Matter of fact, my youngest brother was so scared of me, one day he shat himself. To death.
NELSON: Benjamin Zephaniah! That's a horrible story.
VINCE: Yeah well, it's like I always say innit, "Life's a *bleep*."

From Scott Monty Field: Nelson, ever tried cat-nip? NELSON: Uh-uh. It's a slippery slope. Nelson says: "Just say no, kids!"
VINCE: ... Hold up. Did you just call Scott Monty Field a *bleep*?
NELSON: No.
VINCE: Right. In that case, may I?
NELSON: If you absolutely must.
VINCE: Alright Scott, me old *bleep*?

From R: Nelson, tell us about "The Divine Miss Vulpine"
NELSON: Oh, yes I'm glad you asked about that actually because I've had a lot of negative reaction to this among the animal community. Basically, right, I did it one time, for a laugh, for a couple of mates. Next thing you know, I'm being asked to do corporate events, private functions, hotel visits...Look, I was young, I was naïve, it was Blair's Britain! The boom years! Things were different back then! I mean, 'let he cast the first stone who hasn't dressed up as a woman and performed a private burlesque show for a lonely Taiwanese fund manager!' Right?

From L2A: Vince, if you had twenty-four hours to live and only had time to fight one famous human, who would it be and why?
VINCE: Who's that Welsh *bleep* who reads the news?
NELSON: Huw Edwards?
VINCE: Him.
NELSON: Him? Why him?!
VINCE: Dunno. Just feel like it.
NELSON: Mental. Absolutely bloody mental.

From Luge: Vince, I assume you are the fox that keeps eating my sister's chickens. Do you know that my nephew gets upset every time you do it? And also what did you do with the rabbits you horrible *bleep*?
VINCE: Yeah. It's me. I'll hold my hands up. As for your nephew, consider it a lesson in life from your lovely uncle Vince.
NELSON: Sorry, what sort of lesson?
VINCE: The sort of lesson that teaches you that all chickens are dirty scumbag *bleep*s. NELSON: Right. I'd say that probably comes under Sociology.
VINCE: As for the missing rabbits, all I'll say is this...I *bleep*ed them. Then I ate them.
NELSON: OK, that's just unhygienic. Frankly. I mean no wonder you're always catching colds.

From Rycochet: Nelson, What do you use on your fur to keep it so red and glossy? I've tried everything and I just can't get my tail to look that fabulous.
NELSON: OK Rycochet, quick tip, if it's a hot day or if you're holidaying somewhere muggy i.e. visiting a pen-pal in the South of France, simply apply a healthy squirt of good quality conditioner in the morning, then leave it in until bedtime. It'll keep your tail looking lush and full of life all day!
VINCE: My god. You don't half talk some *bleep*.
NELSON: Says you. With the split-ends.

From Joel Hopwood: Vince, Did you just call me a *bleep*?
VINCE: Yes.
NELSON: He did. I heard him. Sorry.

You can watch the next episode of Mongrels TOMORROW at 11pm.

Special thanks to Mongrels writer Jon Brown.

Mongrels: Ask Vince and Nelson a question...

Post categories: ,Ìý,Ìý

Dana Stevens | 18:14 UK time, Tuesday, 13 July 2010

Right then Mongrels fans; stand by because you're going to love this....

Mongrels

We've managed to persuade urban fox Nelson to put down his Guardian newspaper long enough to answer some of your questions about life in the wilds of East London. And Vince got pretty nasty when he heard Nelson's been asked to talk to the fans and not him, so we've had to let him answer some questions too.

Maybe you always wanted to know how to outfox a fox? Or maybe you want to ask Vince whether his cubs were tastier than a KFC? Or you're curious about what roles Nelson has lined up next after starring in Springwatch?

All you need to do is post your questions on the or leave a comment here before 10am on Friday 16th July and we'll pick a selection to put to Vince and Nelson. We'll post their answers on our before next week's episode. And don't forget the next episode of Mongrels is on TONIGHT at 10.30pm.

Stacey Dooley's Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Three diary

Post categories: ,Ìý,Ìý,Ìý,Ìý

Dana Stevens | 13:51 UK time, Friday, 9 July 2010

We love Stacey Dooley here at Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Three and since she first appeared in the Blood Sweat and T-Shirts series she's become something of a campaigner for and employment rights in the developing world. I know that many of you were moved by the Stacey Dooley Investigates series last October and the programme inspired you to find ways to help. As Stacey is currently involved with a number of exciting projects for Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Three, I've asked her to check in with the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Three blog every so often and let us know what she's up to. To kick things off she explains how she first started working with the channel...

Stacey Dooley Investigates

Stacey Dooley writes:

I very first became involved with Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Three when I answered an advert for a new series called Blood Sweat and T-Shirts. The advert was very brief and simply asked the questions "Do you love fashion? Do you love travel? ..."

I spent most of my time travelling and shopping - often at the same time - so I honestly couldn't think of anything more perfect!

I was lucky enough to visit India, to experience and witness how our high street fashion garments were produced. What I went on to discover really did blow me away.

Stacey Dooley Investigates

I came across dirty, cramped sweatshops where tiny young lads were being forced to work for ridiculous hours...for little or no money. If a stitch was missed or a mistake was made, there was every chance he would be beaten as punishment. They were hungry and tired.

Returning to the UK, I decided to let everyone know just what I thought about it all!

I went on to appear on news and radio stations, backed organisations and charities that I felt were in the know, and raised money to help rehabilitate these kids.

Last year I made two documentaries, Kids For Sale in Nepal and Kids With Machetes in the Ivory Coast, highlighting just how many of our kids around the world are affected by child labour. It's literally millions.

I've just returned from my latest trip...I can't reveal many details just yet but it involved a bullet-proof vest and a hostile environment course! Gulp. Very scary, but very worthwhile. I'll tell you more about that when I can.

Stacey Dooley Investigates

Earlier this week I was asked to take part in a trail to be shown on air during Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Three's upcoming Adult Season. Look out for that on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Three very soon! I was made up to be included, as I really do believe Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Three is brilliant in touching real, current and massively important issues that affect us all in one way or another. Some of the documentaries they're doing in particular are so informative without being too square or boring. Fabulous!

Stacey Dooley Investigates On Monday I am in London at the on the South Bank and I'm going to be speaking! (Maybe nervously muttering! I'm not massive on public speaking...eeek!) I'll be there along with some really amazing young people. It's all about young people going that step further and doing their thing to make a difference. I've read a little about the others who are going to be there and they all sound very inspiring! Tickets are free and there are still a few left so if you are 16-24 and you want to come along and be inspired by some ideas for change you can find out more at the .

Wish me luck for the conference...and I will try my best not to trip up, or down, the stairs on the way to the stage! x

Stacey will be speaking at the this Monday 12th July at the BFI at London's South Bank.

Robert Peston: How the budget affects you

Post categories: ,Ìý,Ìý,Ìý

Dana Stevens | 10:06 UK time, Tuesday, 6 July 2010

It's been almost two weeks since the new coalition government announced their and now the dust has settled, it's time to take stock and look at how it will really affect us. Robert Peston, the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú's money expert and presenter of the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Three show On The Money, examines what the impact will be......

Robert Peston writes:

This was a very big and important budget which will have implications for all of us. Thanks for all your comments about your experiences.

Robert Peston

In respect of its impact on young people, I would single out two or three effects.

First, when governments borrow to pay for public services, as has been happening to a record extent in the UK, that can be seen as unfair on younger people.

The debt will have to be repaid one day, through taxation or cuts in public spending. And the longer it takes to impose those taxes or cut that spending, the more it's possible to argue that the costs of today's public services are being imposed on tomorrows' earners, who derived minimal benefit from those services.

So there is an argument that the coalition government's decision to speed up the reduction of the deficit is fairer to young people than reducing the debt only slowly. There is however an alternative view, which is that the government's relatively fast deficit reduction plan, will reduce the growth of the economy and could push unemployment up further.

If that were to happen - and the government hopes it won't - there would be disproportionate pain for young people. Because the evidence of the last couple of years has been that unemployment has been most acute among those leaving schools and higher education.

One final point, the rise in VAT may be particularly uncomfortable for younger people, because they tend to spend more relative to their income than older people and more of their spending tends to go on the kind of things - gadgets, entertainment, clothes - which incur VAT at the full rate.

So if you are under 30, what do you think? Was this a fair budget for young people, or do you think you're being forced to pay for a financial mess created by your parents' generation?

You can watch videos from On The Money with Robert Peston covering issues like debt, pay and banks.
