Presenter Jake Humphreys

Welcome to my first blog for the new Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Three show, Free Speech (Wednesday 7th March, 10pm).

I'm so chuffed to be hosting a show that I feel will bring young people closer than ever before to the decision makers and opinion formers of our country. A show that isn't afraid to ask the big questions and tackle the vital issues that are directly affecting your lives today and your futures tomorrow.

As you can tell from our video starring Mark Grist and MC Mixy, we're determined to stir up some big chat and we want all of you to get involved...

View the full blog post to access video content. In order to see this content you need to have both Javascript enabled and Flash installed. Visit Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Webwise for full instructions

So how has the guy from Formula 1 ended up hosting a show like this? Well, right from studying A-level politics to presenting Newsround (back in the day!) I’ve always taken a keen interest in how our society runs, who runs it, and what we 'normal folk' can do to have more of a say in it.

I’m also passionate about making sure this programme is fun, and doesn’t focus solely on the serious issues we’re facing. So as much as we will be discussing problems like youth unemployment and benefit cuts, we’ll also be debating the celebrity headlines and hit viral videos that are being watched online, by you, in your millions.

All too often young people are painted in a negative light, being accused of not caring about the world we live in, or being too uneducated to have an opinion on the issues we are facing. Well, the very fact that you’re reading this shows that perception and reality are very often different.

Here’s how we’re doing things in a new way on Three Speech:

Each month we’ll be hitting Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Three, live, with an hour long show that will address the hot five issues young people are talking about that month. These hot five will come from you through your suggestions online – if you think an issue is hot, tell us about it and join the conversation.

Each show will be made up of over one hundred young people, all with an opinion on the issues. Details below on how you could be a part of this...

During the show we’ll be using social media like never before. As each panelist speaks, you can tweet whether you agree or disagree with what they’re saying. Then using world-changing star-gazing technology (!) the tweets will be shown through an interactive, moving picture bubble of the panelist's head. Probably best to tune in to the first show to see what I mean with that one...

We’ll also have the lovely and talented Michelle de Swarte making sure the very best and blog comments are included in the show, so speak up!

And finally, we’ll be keeping the debate going all month long online. We’ll be posting videos, showcasing guest bloggers, asking for interesting panelist suggestions and running all our ideas through you first.

So, get started now by liking us on , following us on and leaving a comment below. And if reading this has already got you thinking about what hot issue you want to discuss, drop us a message and become part of your programme, both online and in the audience.

I’m so excited to be hosting this show and when we hit the air on Wednesday 7th March at 10pm I want us to do so with a real splash. So take this opportunity and show me what you’re made of!

Right, enough from me, over to you. Together lets really make our programme worth watching.

Free Speech is on Wednesday 7th March at 10pm.

So let's get this right. C4 moved 10 o'Clock Live to avoid clashing with Question Time. Now the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú are launching a new current affairs programme aimed at young people in the same slot as 10 o'Clock Live. I suppose there's some logic to it but I'm not sure what that logic is.

  • Comment number 2.

Shop owners shouldn't see teenagers as a bad image as the ones who are willing to put the effort in just get ignored and we should be offered alot more advice into hel

  • Comment number 3.

Certain things should be done to try and keep cyclist safe for example in Europe they have whole lanes for cyclists that move with the road.

  • Comment number 4.

For people like Gemma there should be a training course to be more aware abit like a CBT

  • Comment number 5.

The reason why this country is in a mess is the continual waste of taxpayers money. We have rich farmers collecting subsidy money amounting to millions of pounds each year....we see local councils wasting money each day on pointless projects....we have thousands of government sponsored workers in various industries doing very little to earn their wage.....and all we see is time wasted talking about cycling and its hazards. Lets talk about how we can get this country sorted out rather than TV "free/speech" and "Question Time" talking about things that are not important.

  • Comment number 6.

Its a good idea But the thing is people have there own mind and should be responsible for there own actions not for others to deicide.

  • Comment number 7.

About time too....someone talking about punishing the disabled and the poor in society....and the subject is instantly changed on to supermarket alcohol. This programme is just another farcical waste of time. Free Speech ?....yeah right.

  • Comment number 8.

yes adam. also, I'm blind and to me it sounds like I'm watching Blind Date because Esther sounds like Cilla Black!

The NHS picks up the bill for sorting out this countries indulgence in drinking, smoking and drug taking.Certain children and young adults have all the doors opened for them......the rest of the nation has to try and get a job.
What is the Government doing about creating jobs ? Instead they make cancer sufferers kicked off disability allowance and then make job seekers occupy their time in free labour for Tesco,s etc

Its not just lads mags its the internet google and bing show pictures that are compleatly irrelivent to the search in the bar

  • Comment number 12.

Lets stop wasting millions on fighting wars....lets spend millions on getting people back to work. We flood the UK with cheap foreign labour....we have people living in sheds and over 250.000 homeless. Lets talk about sorting this country out....or is that too difficult ? Now....this programme is talking about fashion etc ??? How important is this ? Talk about the real issues.

  • Comment number 13.

I totally agree with this girl!! Ann summers are starting a new trend of big and beautiful!! Lads mags only look at size 4 to 8 max majority of the British females are size 12-14!! This will no doubt affect every generation of the females no matter what age!!

  • Comment number 14.

ever thought...adults/children are drinking so much alcohol, end up going into hospital...taking up doctors and health professionals time...when they could be attending to a patient who is in a more critical crisis..who did not willingly put themselves in hospital! drinking alcohol is a choice....suffering from a stroke...asthma attack is not.

  • Comment number 15.

what about PIP that will be replacing DLA there r people out there crapping there selves its disgusting what the goverment r doing to make cuts
if the goverment want to save money why dont they cut there wages

  • Comment number 16.

  • Comment number 19.

Binge drinking, low aspirations from young people, lads mags. Where is Britain heading? Life is what you make of it. I believe Britain is lacking moral, strong family values where you got taught life skills regardless of whether you are rich or poor. I have lived a life of poverty on a council estate. I've never stayed away from booze, drugs, and tried hard at school an worked had in a low paid job to be recognised and move up the ladder. Young people need to learn that hard graft is a part of life and nothing comes for free. I also feel good family values comes from religious values. I lived a poor life but I new my boundaries thanks to religion and good parental role models. Does this exist now? As a teacher, I'm afraid to say, this is now a scarcity. Role models now a days are rappers, gangsters making easy money an enjoying life. No wonder our youth ate disgruntled as this is not REALITY.

  • Comment number 20.

Bloke mags are still seen by females!! By girl friends or girlfriends!!!

  • Comment number 21.

Guys dont think of a certain girl as being perfect like a page 3 model, the girls that see a page 3 model put THEMSELVES into that state of mind that that is the perfect body image.

  • Comment number 22.

i dnt really care what a girl looks like as long as she has a good persanality and she can cook she is fperfect

  • Comment number 23.

We live in a country of free speech, freedom of expression, a democracy. No women is forced into these magazines, it is their profession. So why punish people for the way they want to look? If someone wants a boob job, let them have it. Let men read them if they really want to.

  • Comment number 24.

why can't the purchase of alcohol be limited per person in the same way that painkillers are

  • Comment number 25.

Two points that had annoyed me somewhat.. 1 woman not having the same opportunities - why is there a female MP on stage? Why is the leader of Germany a woman (one of the most powerful countries) ? 2 debating and arguing against the govenment does nothing. Blame them
All we want. If people are so annoying with the govenment the only way to change is to make them change. Go in and drag them
Out of power. On topic.. Soldiers know their job. They sign the contract knowing they might ultimatly end dead for the cause. It's part of the job. Please stole complaining. If we had the army just sat at home in the UK the billions it cost to fund the army is wasted! Atleast we are trying to make
    People's lives better.

  • Comment number 26.

i think its wrong the fact young lads go out to fight for their country and cameron does naff all to help the families of the young lads who die out there. what is he doing for his country? sat on his backside thats what!

  • Comment number 27.

Adam is really annoying. His attitude stinks in my opinion. He is completely against anything the government do. He represents the a key issue with young British people where he expects everything to be provided rather than taking responsibility for oneself. Narrow minded indeed.

The war that is going on is not implimeted in schools and is tiptoed around by teachers as kids are debating more with adults on things that matter alot in todays life

  • Comment number 31.

i say sod the goverment because we have no need to be fighting your just putting our family members at risk

  • Comment number 32.

Why should we spend 14 billion pound on the Olympics when that money could be spent on the soldiers fighting our war?

  • Comment number 33.

Yet another Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú left wing programme - question time is bad enough but this was worse - the plants in the audience were a giveaway

  • Comment number 36.

seems rather hypocritical - complaining about big companies using young people for free - when the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú makes a programme using probably 100 young people for free!

  • Comment number 37.

shampoo dave below, that is a silly thing to say, sorting things like bicycle education can save lives, also it was a very good show, BUT EVERYONE MISSED ESTHA WAS THE ONLY CORRECT PERSON READ - Estha made sense, the only one to be fare, how can people say the only jobs work experience or not stacking shelves is terrible.ÌýÌýBasicaly no job is below anyone, and nothing is wrong in stacking shelves, you would be an idiot to think this wont benefit you, a young person will learn team work, responsibility, and even just get a feel for working life, and maybe in a year or two become floor supervisor, and if these young students want to be managers etc, well then get working in any shop, even an hour a week in a general store or oxfam, as when you say that you have had responsibilities in this role it will obviously benefit there future, its just pure lazyness and a loss of the meaning of work. And also its our responsibility to find and create oppurtunities and make ourselves stand out, GO ESTHA

Free-speech is the topic here it uses a tried and tested television formula before you engage understand this simple advice.

It may appear more fashionable when pathetic politicians quote all sorts of things that their researchers have supplied to them statistics do not prove everything and just because you quote some particular innocent University Professor or what he's talking about and this is the usual clinically nonsense. It’s the standard way of arguing and counter arguing political agendas actually both parties belong to the same group of elite sly and probably secret selection of society.

What is its purpose, how does it not function so what are the excessive rules governing the debate it is already constructed to manipulate and carefully controls the audience’s participation never stimulating one topic too long by keeping the roulette wheel spinning confusing all kinds of issues rolled into one nasty mess.

Giving the false impression of accurate representation but MI6 psychologist who study media and politics, create topics that entrap people's opinions it's no more than a form of perverted therapy and antagonistically entertainment for victims of the evil system.

Beware it's an experimental game of chess recorded in slow-motion and then put on fast-forward to give the false impression that it is not staged.
Play the game there way and your be defeated every time.

In reality it's the manipulation of public opinion that is generally not preconceived as brainwashing us. By introducing tactics divide and rule the population subjects get them to fight amongst themselves this has been proven and tested for hundreds of years now it’s gone electronic.

Freedom of speech means having your own TV + Radio station and not using you theirs as an unpaid guinea pig because owning and caring for a guinea pig can be very unrewarding for school teachers and governments
Remember why are my/your comments are pre-moderated seeing House rules means Restricted Freedom of speech, censorship laws a good topic do you not think?

What I'm talking about is a Masonic puppet government these television shows are pantomimes staged by MI5 media departments

IF YOU HAVE ANY INTELLIGENCE AND I SIMPLY MEAN COMMON SENSE NOT DEVIOUS POLITICAL AND INTELLECTUAL INSANITY USE IT.

Let's face it wake up ninety nine per cent of the population owned nothing the definition of slavery is dis empowerment being submissive to authority accepting poverty, working-class values and opinions or middle class or actually no class being a homeless beggar in the street or a prostitute forced to work just to get a slice of bread a cup of tea. Yet another Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú left wing programme question time is bad enough but this was of poorer quality notice the paid extras in the audience who were a giveaway the format is corrupt very manicured it sews public resistance down to conform to there agenda not yours

Share all the work out and create a three day week, stop slavery make everybody clean the streets, clean toilets not only one class of people but all class of people including the queen and the regime especially the greedy bankers.

The Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú works for the government enterprise programs that are directed by secret agencies to subtly mind control the population accordingly but the wider mass media in general is controlled by much more bigger evil manipulative media corporations they use far more devastating indoctrination techniques under the disguise of every form of entertainment you can think of to make you into an complete idiot.

Your critical thinking is compromised you are repeatedly introduced to an incorrect perverted line of thought process, attitude, behaviors there only introducing ideas they want you to focus on wake up its mind control.

Along with a lot of false information political propaganda or just simply feeding you with rotten journalism these TV programmers amount to no more than sociological masturbation there not interested in what you think the audience is being controlled like monkeys in a human zoo.

this show was a joke, and not in a funny way. most young british people dont ride bikes yet half the first show was dedicated to this topic, and yet when real topics are rased that young people are really concerned about the topic is quickly changed.

in my opinion this country is falling apart, we have the highest youth unemployment rate on record, yet we are being told as a generation we expect to be handed things on a plate because we have degrees and that we should stack shelfs for less than minimum wadge, when most of the current number of unemployed are highly skilled individuals who only lack the level of experience that companys are looking for due to the FINANCIAL situation that this country is currently in, which was not the fault of the youngters, but the previous generations that have made this mess and expect us to pay for it.

We should disolve all the political parties and fire all the politicians, they have forgoten what they are suppost to do which is represent the people, they are to busy point scoring with their friends in their private club known as parliment. We need to fix our country before we start interfering with the countries of others, the sooner this happens the sooner this country can return to being GREAT BRITAIN rather than the embaressment that this country currently represents.

All governments have propaganda departments and public relations amazingly it's never discussed this programme is a set-up getting people to air their views and sweeping it under the carpet

Your absolutely right they spending so much time on a trivial topics such as bike riding. I've got a degree in media studies they just spinning the dice restricting the time spent on a proper subject actually the programmers a distraction a smokescreen

To stop you penetrating with critical thought, but what happens the debate is. A controlled argument in their gain support they are not likely to use the media to empower the people they grossly misrepresent.

Free speech is a new program aimed at young people. Not forgetting the riots that got a lot of media attention And before that the student demonstrations and before that Massive demonstrations against going to war with other countries.

Recently people complaining and demonstrating against Exploitation of young people and the unemployed working for their benefits As been much exposure regarding lack of a balanced diet and over eating disorder that makes it impossible to have a perfect an unrealistic image Maybe there is a lot of alcohol abuse as a former self medication for people that I are depressed that are not on anti-depressants

Multinational corporations make a lot of money Out of selling alcohol and drugs make-up and fashion accessories supermarkets make a profit after selling Junk food large corporations benefit from slave labour We live in a capitalist society it's generally all about exploitation of weak-minded people the Consumers' Democracy is only a gesture to patronise the masses who think they have a right just because they paid taxes

May be everybody wants a argue about what the money should be spent on our politicians just simply accountants and trustworthy or untrustworthy housekeepers for the nation Uncertain many politicians are sincere but they're not allowed to express their own personal preferences other than toeing the party line

There is no point arguing about the basic infrastructure? To maintain people's basic needs clothing, food, housing decent employment and accurate education.

People that have an exclusive education people that have a privileged see the masses as ignorant idiots and some cases working class scum their scared of anarchy and revolution The sheriff's men their henchmen who impose law and order need paying sometimes with barbaric force what a hellish society.

For myself I believe in non-violent activism and clever diplomacy but I lack finance like a lot of people do so why money is so incredibly important there is hardly an aspect of life which is not controlled by it there is no logical

The people that control money commercially manufacturer it as a private corporation please understand how they can control the Government's, actually the governments not in control. There in debt to the private bankers who use money as a dictatorship in this day and age democracy is a fallacy

If you are real parental leader a father figure of the nation all your subjects and children must definitely be organized to supply equally fairly proper food housing and clothing for everybody this is my first priority and mother of the nation should say the second priority is one's health and employment third priority is proper education not brainwashing.

Social economic classes dictate inequality people at the top of the pyramid manipulate the people at the bottom my compartmentalization it is easy to put people against each other specially when the masses have serious delusions that are encouraged by the education system and capitalism that seeks to exploit it people's weaknesses to accept political delusions.
