Orson - 'Ain't No Party'
Apparently there's ain't no party like a party going in Orson's house. Which, if it's true, is going to leave the former member of S Club 7 feeling pretty fed up, seeing as up until now there ain't been no party like an S Club party. Now, upsetting S Club 7 might not be the most dangerous thing you could ever do, particularly weedy Jon, but it's a shame that the party that Orson is having has no room for "Tina doing her thing" or "Jo, she's got the flow". That would be like party-squared, or summink.
Course, if you did go to the kind of house party where they played nothing by Orson songs from start to finish, it would probably get a little wearing after the first hour or so. Not that there's anything massively wrong with the band's beefed-up pop rock thing, unless your personal idea of hell is a Maroon 5 who drink a lot of coffee and stay up late.
But they really do only have the one sound, with minor variations according to rhythm. So, after 20 minutes on the living-room-carpet- dancefloor, you'll feel like you've danced to the same song, sometimes faster, sometimes slower, sometimes with the tiny trilby balanced on your nose, sometimes...no, ALWAYS with the tiny trilby balanced on your nose. That thing isn't coming off, ever.
On the plus side, there are maracas, which are another of the list of ChartBlog-approved instruments/noises which always make songs better (next to the tambourine and fingerclicks), and there's a "doo-doo-doodle-do" guitar-and-voice twiddly thing going on which has been stolen entirely from Jimi Hendrix's 'Crosstown Traffic', therefore facilitating clever DJ mixing from the one song to the other ('Crosstown Traffic' is a stone-cold party classic, see).
Which means that Orson's claims to being able to throw a pretty wild shindig might not be that wide of the mark, although it is a little worrying to hear men of their advanced age singing excitedly about mum and dad being out of town. You could believe it of S Club, perhaps, but not Orson.
You don't think his mum forces him to keep that hat on in case he gets a chill, do you?

Orson are soo over, they had one hit and all the rest of their stuff has been lame.
And as soon as i saw the song title i thought of S Club 7.....not a group you really want to be associated with!
I've always thought of Orson being more of a tea party kind of band, so that may be what they have in mind. Probably with added chimps.
And, of course, "mum and dad being out of town" is an Orson euphimism for "died of old age".
Personally, I think the S Club 7 reunion tour is well over due, and would put those sad old Spice Slappers firmly in there place. Altogether now;

Better anthem for life? Depends what life you're living! Play it to someone who has dreamt of going to space for their ENTIRE life but just got rejected by NASA for a heart condition while all their friends got accepted and are heading off RIGHT NOW and the only mountain they'll be climbing is one they can jump off :P
Now if only someone had played them a slightly more sensitive song! Something that understands their pain and wants to give them both a nice big hug and a punch-bag to take their anger out on :P

Mr H, i never know what to think of you.. one second your making a good point or saying something funny and then you say something i just dont think is called for. its like on the team chartblog blog "I would like to volunteer for the job of scaring any whey faced emo kids who come wandering by badmouthing Team ChartBlog." i mean, what was the point in that? are you purposely trying to provoke people? this here site has given that "emo pap" 5 star ratings before. its a site thats going to attract people of many different musical preferences, many of which im sure youll put into the 'emo' category, also many of which comment often and love this site, not people "badmouthing Team ChartBlog". i almost said something on the team CB blog but that was about getting the team together, not starting a civil war within CB so i held my tounge. anyway, you dont like certain things being mocked, and neither does everyone else. fine dont like 'emo' music but keep your views to a situation they are called for. this is not one of them, neither was the team CB blog.
and i still dont want to start some argument, i really dont want to.. i havnt had one on CB for ages and i like it that way i just wanted you to know what i thought. so sorry for any offence but youve kinda offended me too.
as for orson when i first heard of them i thought they were called awesome :S.. at the time i thought how big headed.. but im stupid so its my on fault really :)

I have no great objection to MCR, why I had that 'Teenagers' tune playing on my MP3 player earlier today. Even if it does ound a bit like the Glitter Band.
it was less so for this blog that i got annoyed, more so for the team CB one, this just added to it. and i wouldnt care if you hated mcr, everyones entitled to their own taste, but i just dont think some aspects ('emo' remarks) of your comments are relevant for the situation which they are said, again i refer to the team CB blog.

Whenever I think of Orson, I always think of cinema music. You know the songs they play while you're getting your seats and waiting for film to start? Anyone else? Or is that just me?
I love Orson! They're my favourite band and I disagree alot with what some of these people have said. They don't have one sound as they do slower songs aswell which are just as good as they're more upbeat ones. I know this sounds stupid, but Orson really are awesome!
When I think of cinema music I think of Darius.. the cineworld in Glasgow ALWAYS plays Colourblind or Rushes alongside the adverts before movie trailers start :P
