Hard-Fi - Steve arrowed

It's all very well for Hard-Fi to make their grand pronouncements about not being able to live without me. But do they REALLY mean it? Frankly I am doubtful. But I also know that nothing kills a beautiful relationship quicker than acting like you don't believe it when you're being told how important you are. So, having been given the chance to chat freely with Steve Kemp, the band's very rational drummer, I decided I would use my cunning and charm to try and find out about the kind of things he really CAN'T live without. And then cross my fingers that ChartBlog's name might come up...

hard_fi-steve.jpgWhat I Expected: Musicians are often a superstitious bunch, prone to strange habits and weird phobias. It would surprise me in no way at all to discover that the drummer from Hard-Fi carried a well-loved threadbare teddy bear, or had a thing about having his ears stroked. Or that the band as a whole refused to ever wear the colour orange. Stuff like that.

What I Did Not Expect: "We've just gone through a very painstaking rider-rework"...never mind the personal stuff, leave the TV alone..."We've got this thing called the Hard-Fi high five"...why drummers are the most rational people in rock..."as long as you can put something in a piece of bread and eat it, it doesn't matter what it is"...

And here is the afore-mentioned song 'Can't Get Along (Without You)', which, I think you'll agree has been severely tested by this interview. Mind you, it really DOES have a lot of instruments in it, doesn't it?
