Jamie-Lynn Spears, Lily Allen, Edith Bowman

OK, so what on Earth happened last night while I was asleep? Well, I say asleep...what on Earth happened last night while I was trying to block the endlessly repeating loop of the Strictly Come Dancing theme music which was running around and around in my tortured head while I tried to GET to sleep? Yesterday, there were no major celebrity pregnancies going on. Today there are three. And they're not 'celebrity' like the 'celebrities' in Heat magazine's style section, where a selection of pretty girls (Christian names only) are featured in a variety of approved/not-approved clothes and none of us is any the wiser as to who is whom. No, these are actually really famous people.

Lily AllenSo, just to recap in case you've not been told. Lily Allen has confirmed that she is having a baby with Chemical Brother Ed Simons. They've been seeing each other since September and the usual tabloid 'sources' claim that she's chuffed to bits.

Also, Radio 1's own Edith 'The Lovely Edith' Bowman has confirmed that she too is expecting. And it's super-extra official in Edith's case because she actually told the papers herself how excited she and her fella (Tom from Editors) are. In fact, she even told the Daily Mirror: "It's the best Christmas present we could have wished for"

Which is very sweet.

So, that's two, what about the third? Well, as is traditional in these circumstances, we've definitely saved the best for last. Jamie-Lynn Spears, younger sister of the 'blessed' Britney, and a rising star in her own right, has revealed that she is 12 weeks pregnant. There's been a little bit of to-and-fro with the media about whether Britney was aware of this or not, as she told the reporters yesterday (after Jamie-Lynn's interview with OK! magazine was already public knowledge) that her sister is definitely NOT pregnant.

Now, it seems more likely that Britney was trying to keep a lid on things for her sisters sake than she had been deliberately kept in the dark, but that's not such a compelling story, and it's not clear which is true, so you can see why reporters have leapt to the conclusion they have.

Anyway, now the big discussion is over whether Jamie-Lynn's pregnancy is sending out the wrong message to her fans about pre-marital sex. And no doubt someone somewhere is blogging right now about how she's .

So it's really good to see lessons have been learned, since the weight of intense media speculation (and other factors which we're all still speculating about, ironically enough) interfered with Britney's ability to raise her two children in much the same way that a chainsaw interferes with a tree. Glad to see everyone is already being very responsible about these matters.

Not that any of our expectant mothers is exempt from this kind of trial by flashgun, either. But you just KNOW which one is going to have the hardest battle to fight, right?

FlowersPS: Bit of a gloomy ending here, isn't it? Specially as it's kind of a good news thing. Here, Edith, Lily, Jamie-Lynn, have some flowers! Congratulations!

Press attention aside she's like 16! Still a kid herself.. not the ideal starting-point for parenthood.

As for Ms Allen.. since September does not a nuclear family often make.. Edith and Mr Smith at least fit the bill of a longer-term relationship between grown-ups. Money's on them :P

Seriously though, I wonder how many babies are unplanned these days... is it THAT hard to keep up the protection??

Given the circumstances surrounding two of the impending births, I suspect that in about a year's time we can expect to see either Lily or Jamie-Lynn on the Jeremy Kyle show.

I can understand a young girl like Jamie-Lynne making a mistake like that, but Lily getting pregnant just 4 months into a relationship? That's just carelessness!

OK, shock aside (yes, I was shocked....even thought Jamie-Lynn apparently has a crazy woman for big sister) LET JAMIE-LYNN ALONE!
Really, she sold the story (well, she'll need the money to provide for the poor child). I honestly think it was about time for people to lose the interest. She is not the first nor last 16 year old to get preggers. (And they're young but apparently they have a looooong relationship).
As for Lily....gosh, SHE'S INSANE! Lily, please stop acting like a major contradition!

And... I really love Editors and I think Tom and Edith might be good people so... Congrats and good luck!
