The Feeling: "Cornwall Is As Big As Russia In Our Mind"
If you're about to embark on a telephone interview with a member of the band the Feeling, my advice to you is not to listen to their first album just before you go and wait for them to ring. This is because it is maddening to be sitting quietly by the phone, staring at it, willing it to go off, and all the while your mind is going round and round with "I love it when you call, I love it when you call, I love it when you call but you never call at all...WHOO!"...
Thankfully Paul the drummer did eventually call, and we had a nice chat, so things are looking a lot more (cough) 'Rosé', now...
What I Expected: Second album time is always tough for established bands. What if the magic has worn off? What if certain other chart acts who also enjoy stacked harmonies and '70s pop have stolen their career? You could hardly blame the band if they were maybe a bit tense at the moment...
What I Did Not Expect: I tell you, this fella can TALK. There are sections of this interview where it sounds a bit like Paul is playing 'Just A Minute' - trying to speak on one subject for a whole minute with no interruptions and without deviating, repeating or hesitating...the Cornish vs Russia thing is nice though...and there's an EXCLUSIVE at the end about the band's love of telephone songs...
