Aled
Some more eventful days.

Seriously, I see the calendar days ticking off saying we’ve done only 4 shows out here in Germany but I find it hard to believe. I’m still marvelling at the way we’ve set up and entire production village out here in the middle of nowehere. For the techie’s amongst you the only piece of the jigsaw that’s not yet been slotted in is the stubborn Wi-fi. We have it in around the main studio chalet but the there are two other chalets, the first with Rach, Carrie, Mark (our translator) and Matt for online content. The second houses the competition winners, Joce and myself, in this chalet we’ve set up a mini production room.

r1_editing_chalet.jpg

In this chalet we make the German ads, get TV commentary and edit interviews. The wi-fi doesn’t yet stretch to those chalets which means everyone who wants to get on the internet, connect to the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú network or chat to mates has to sit in the studio chalet which is also Chris’ chalet so we’re all sat in one room on top of each other and Chris is wanting his space.

The engineers are going to give it another shot at getting it working tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

On a personal note, this photos are very exciting.
r1_pool2.jpg

May look a little dull, but… these are photos of my first proper play in a pool. Ever. I’m very proud of these photos because they represent my new confidence since learning to swim! All cool, but not as much as I would have liked. Ahead of my swimming event where I’m hoping to swim a mile in Manchester on the 15th of July for Sport Relief with a lot of other people, I was hoping to be much more advanced by now. I’m stuck on 600 metres. This is because I’m finding it hard to swim backstroke in pools I’m not used to with people around me. When I crash into someone or hit the wall because I didn’t see it coming it really puts my confidence out. I tried swimming with the team today so that they could look out for me, but I’m such a slow swimmer they lost interest and got bored pretty quickly!!!

The other team members bar Jocelin have gone to town for a meal and to watch the Germany game. I’m typing this blog, editing an interview between Chappers and David Beckham to go out tomorrow morning and watching last night’s Big Brother. How great is it? I love it. GET GRACE OUT! What a cow. I almost feel sorry for Susie – but then, such is Big Brother! One thing I’m sure, yet again, slightly disappointed that I didn’t get into the show, but also very relieved at the same time!

Good luck Germany tonight, the country will be amazing tonight if they win!

Speak to you soon

Aled
xx

Aled,

thanks for the techie info - it's always interesting to see how these things are set up.

Loads of luck with the swimming - I'm not a confident swimmer at all, so I can totally understand where you're coming from - infact I can only manage about 1 length before I freak out. All power to you - hope it all works out!

Good idea not going to the game tonight, you'll miss the misery when England get beat! Ha! I'm from Scotland by the way! (PS. Secretly I hope England do well, but don't let any of my fellow Scots know!) Dale!

Keep persevering with the backstroke Aled - try looking for something at each end of the pool which warns you when when your almost at the wall That way you don't bump into the wall (as much) ;op

Hey Aled wee tip for you. Do one length of the pool and count how many arm pulls / strokes you do before hitting the wall. Then remember and when doing the next length count it down and when you have 2 to go you can safely turn onto your stomach and hey presto you shouldnt hit your little head on the big wall.
