My compu-diary tribute to Aled H Jones

Post categories:

Comedy Dave | 17:33 UK time, Tuesday, 8 August 2006

Crikey, It’s already more than a week since I last wrote in my computer diary, so I’ve been asked by Aled to update you on what’s been going on which I’m sure you’ll find of moderate interest. I’m not entirely sure why Aled decides the order of service with regards to who writes what and when. Technically it should be the responsibility of Hoop Dogg and his squadron of webgeeks, but seeing as it’s Aled’s birthday tomorrow (Wednesday), I’ve decided to write a few lines as a sort of ‘new media’ present for him.

First of all I’d like to wish Aled many happy returns and a future full of tremendous happiness. To celebrate the major milestone of him turning 30, the whole team are going out for a curry which means I’ll probably have to buy some mints later so that I don’t smell like a bhaji. I can’t actually remember the last time I ate curry for lunch. I find that it tends to be more of an evening meal, although there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be a good idea for lunch, because that’s what they do in India.

Regular visitors to Radio 1 online will have seen the photos and video stuff from the show’s jaunt down to Newquay. Unfortunately I can’t give you any exciting stories of this wild weekend, because I was in Italy at my sister’s wedding instead, but I believe everybody had a nice trip, especially Longman and Carrie who really enjoyed their time down there (in Newquay).

I might meet Chappers for a beer later on because he’s in the area to feed his friend’s cat, although it all depends on what time he rings. In terms of tea tonight I’m thinking I might have salad again because I went a bit daft on the pizza and pasta in Italy, and need to be getting back into full training for the Great North Run. I think I’ve still got some salad stuff in the fridge, but I might have to go the shop in a bit to find something to go with it.

Anyway, I’ve got to sign off now because I promised my mum I’d ring her back.

So until next time, kind thoughts to you and your crew

Dave.

Hi Dave,

Have you ever noticed how often you use the word 'technically'.

Nice word....but there are lots of others to try.

How about 'oddly' or 'dumpling'.

Go on, give them a try ...you might find you like them.

Hi Dave,

I believe you are the comedy genius behind the Anteater / Man Eater song. I heard it a couple of Fridays ago whilst reversing my car out the drive and laughed so much that I accidentally scratched my Dad's car cos my steering went wonky. He doesnt know just yet. I am trying to find the right moment to tell him.

Please please play it again, we listen to the show every day but my finance missed it that particular day. I might tell my Dad tonight, so this could be my last ever oportunity.

Thanks for making us laugh, we are teachers and you make us laugh on the way to school,
Amanda in Southampton

Hi Dave, I dont like to be personal or anything, but what in the hell happened to Mrs Dave? I remember quite a big build up to your wedding, but really no mention since...i would presume that your salad would be lovingly prepared by your wife who has already been to a shop and purchased the necessary, should you still have one? a wife that is. Anyway, if im encroaching upon what you celebs call your 'private life', then my apologies for that. If said wife has departed, i would like to put myself forward as a replacement. Just a thought. Bye for now xx

Hello to you again Comedian David. I do not have the problem of an empty fridge as I happen to enjoy the delights of getting my shopping delivered from time to time. All of these foods consist of Italian or Indian cousine. I've also found that the nice man who delivers my shopping doesnt ask me if I want vouchers for schools, which is good, also.

Its great that the show has taken such a shine to sport this Summer - surfing, running and swimming, especially with a fat bloke at the helm! Aled would be proud of your latest blogcast. Happy Birthday to the Welsh one too.. I didnt know he was such a big fan of curry, dont eat too much though, as we're all rooting for you in that big north run you're doing, break a leg!

(Not literally, you understand) But in the unfortunate incident that you do break one of your legs you could always try and get condensation from one of the injury claims adverts. Ok, thats it from me.. goodbye to you, the cat and Chappers.. FIN.

Dave, as I read your blog I couldn't help but think that making stuff up would probably be the way to go. Y'know, something along the lines of "in my guise as an agent of the Crown, I managed to coincide my trip to Italy for my sister's wedding with the single-handed foiling of a major international terrorist threat headed up by a race of alien-human hybrid supermen" rather than "I think I've got some salad stuff in the fridge..." Just a thought...
