May I start by wishing this couple the very best of happiness that life can bring, and as Williams mother found out money cannot buy happiness.
But with Charles his father around to guide him through his difficult years (being a half orphan) he seems to have come through it OK, and should make a wonderful Duke of Cornwall when he takes over from his father and follows in his footsteps. Kate I do not know much about her, but she looks the part and should make a fine Cornish maid.

Although, with my cynical hat on, one can't help wondering about the timing of all this, with the cuts and everything. Nothing like a "good news" story to bury the bad. Something to take our minds of whats to come.

Cornwall could live without the whole "duchy" concept, its an anachronism in the modern world. Perhaps, though I very much doubt, William would be so good as to give up the title "Duke of Cornwall" which will automatically be bestowed on him by right of inheritance. After all, who would give up a whole county for their dominion, to milk for cash? I wouldn鈥檛.

Cornwall county gains little at present from its royal association, the county would possibly be better off without it. Though the royals are good for pulling in the tourists. Mayhap the more handsome, and slightly less bonkers, younger couple, William and Catherine, will provide a windfall in Cornish tourism receipts.

Do you really not find the timing of this event to be rather convenient. A government that finds itself, whether you agree with them or not, having to bring in a lot of, what are going to be, unpopular "cuts", that will cause a lot of people a lot of hardship. What better than all the pomp and ceremony of a Royal wedding to take peoples minds off the more unpleasant news that is going to be heading our way.
Lets have hours and hours of speculation in the news about what her dress will be like, who is going to be invited, the wedding presents, even what flowers they will choose, instead of reports of people loosing their homes. At least the kids will be able to remember a wonderful street party, and how they got sick eating too much jelly, before they were made homeless.
Instead of people talking about the rising cost of living, or how much fuel is going up, or the care home down the street that is having to close, they can now talk about this joyous event.
